How to force regular character saves

Hi Folks,

We're having bad weather and I've had a number of occasions where I've lost an inventory full of mining progress when the power gets cut without warning (they're probably continuing to work on the lines)

Is there an easy way of forcing character saves at regular intervals without having to disconnect/reconnect every 5 or 10 mins please?

theres a bukkit plugin called save-it (or something similar) which will save the game at the set interval

I'd be careful with WorldSaver, I disabled that plugin and my world corruption problems seem to have went away.
