Description of Problem: Alright - I have been playing Tekkit for a time now (Love it!!), and now a friend of mine wants to tag along (great!) - However we met a problem doing so. Everytime he starts the TechnicLauncher, then the download box appears for a few seconds only to disappear right away. Now we have tried installing Java (64-bit javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=63692) with no luck. We did try delete the %appdata% techniclauncher folder + techniclauncher, and then download it again - same result happened.
This is a Java issue. The most common cause is using 32 bit Java. If your Operating system is 64 bit, make sure you update to the latest 64 bit version of Java. Links on www.technicpack.net.
If no matter what you do, the exe just doens't work, go to your .techniclauncher folder and there should be a .jar in there. If not then download
it from www.technicpack.net and use that. Read further up the list for how to determine the bit version of your OS or JAVA." part, is there something I might have forgotten?
Thank you for your time!
and yes, I am also banging my head over this situation..

We also installed the JDK Java 7 (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-7u4-downloads-1591156.html) and yet no luck getting past the launcher who disappear.
Operating System: 64 bit, W7
Antivirus: Kaspersky
I was thinking if he needs to use the JRE instead of JDK?
I did check the common problems and solutions thread (http://forums.technicpack.net/index.php/topic,4193.msg25703.html#msg25703), specially the "Opening the .exe does nothing, or flashes a loading icon, or says "checking launcher version", then closes.
