Gadamlu Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 hello, currently useing the 7.0.1 dev build from the launcher, so it has thaumcraft2. my little problem, is that ive found, basicaly the perfect seed for me, i'll post in the bottem if your interested, but it spawns you right in a village, with another in sight, eldritch obelisks nearby, and a forest with greatwood and silverwood. unfourtunetly...within a few minecraft days, taint began to massively spread near the eldritch obelisk, which is right next to the village. any tips to stop this from happening the next time i load the seed? 1088122956077598393 walk east for 20 seconds or so, while crossing the river, you'll find the obelisk be sure to have the dev build enabled
Neowulf Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I had a taint spot start next to my local millenaire village, I'm currently checking if you can half the spread with a cobble barrier as was suggested on the thaum2 wiki. Really easy to setup, philosopher's stone at full charge and circle around the taint turning the land to cobble.
DemonCrusher36 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 A pic of how big the area is, Use rei's minimap expanded map. If its semi small, you can barrier it with cobble (depending on the size) or get taint nukers (thaumcraft wiki and the taint science thread, compact designs on page 3) Or, if you have the shovel of renewal you could TRY and remove it, or if your far with EE use a destruction catalyst.
Gadamlu Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 well demon, did some looking around there, and when the world is first generated, theres no taint at all, it just naturaly generates within a few days, i think the area is just, naturaly vis depleted, and taint enriched? may be due to the eldritch obilisk there, not entirely sure. but thats the thing though, im trying to play without doing any hacks...so what you sugjest with the shovel, and taint science, isnt really work able >:c guess i could set it up right after the world is generated, but im not sure how to stop it from generating naturaly...

You might want to check to see if there is a cave beneath with taint. That would cause the spread to reach the surface.
Torezu Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 In the Thaumcraft config file is a setting for natural taint (C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\.techniclauncher\technicssp\config\ThaumCraft2.cfg), 0 is none, 1 is "normal" (few and far between, and not high taint levels), 2 is...bad. I would assume your taint spread wouldn't happen if you set this to 0, until you really tainted a chunk, either with opening the obelisk or by excessive crucible use.
Gadamlu Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 aaah, i figured it out finaly, so a word of warning to all other players, the mod NPC's, can destroy the obelisks which lead to a masive spike in the local taint, as what happend here :c so...one must destroy the vilage that is southwest of the spawn in the a fore-mentioned seed, or the vilagers will destroy the eldritch obelisk
