Can't connect to Minecraft.net

I was playing on Tekkit and while I was getting off my server so my friend could get on then as soon as he tryed to login it said Cannot connect to Minecraft.net. I tryed to re-install it. I was hoping someone would know what to do. And if someone comes up with an idea of how to fix it would they please explain the steps. Thank you

Yeah I've checked on the Regular Minecraft Launcher and it says minecraft.net is down but I've been skyping with a friend and he's still on a server. I've deleted the lastlogin file and redownload and tried all launchers but the windows ( On a Mac ). If anyone can, can you please explain why this is happening.

Guy's the login thing is down. It's not your tekkit launcher's fault or your minecraft's it's just that the Logins are done so no one can get in right now. I'm sure their working on it atm. :)

Is anyone else having the same problem where it's logging in then when you got to your server it say's failed login or something?

Now what does Internal exception: java.lang.NullPointerExeption mean
