That compass is a search tab which you'll automatically switch to if you start typing. The chest is your survival inventory.

That's neat. Looks sort of like the inventory UI from the xbox version.

Ehhhhh... I don't know. I kinda like having to root through my inventory to look for stuff in creative mode. Call me old fashioned, but I just like it like that. Looks nice though. This in a snapshot or something?

I think this is great, especially the search function. I suppose I'm impatient but having to dig through a giant list of items and blocks, using a scroll bar, was really irritating about creative.

Especially when you can't find something while it's staring you right in the face. Can't even count the times...

This has gotta have mod support. However knowing them, there will be a 'MODS' tab that will dump everything in one incoherent heap.

I have a lot more things for creative planned, custom tabs and preset inventory layouts, but now it's time to work on something more fun :)

He did also mention having to manually classify all the vanilla blocks, so my assumption is that this is something that the mod authors will have to do for their items, as well.

Yeah, that's no bad thing. Means that mods may well ship out with configs for the inventory anyhow.
