[SUGGESTION] DNS SRV Record Support

Question

Posted

I have noticed that there is no SRV record support while attempting to connect to servers. knowing that this project is a fork of Spoutcraft, I believe it is safe to assume that the fork took place before they added the support for them.

getting to the point, I would love to see SRV support so I could have multiple Minecraft servers on the same IP address have their own subdomains.

here's some links to help you out:

What SRV records are (and format): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRV_record

Spoutcraft announcement on SRV support: http://forums.spout.org/threads/spoutcraft-now-supports-srv-records.1982/

Spoutcraft commit adding SRV support: https://github.com/SpoutDev/Spoutcraft/commit/f2d55a1da5a335ac55b35a074f76705b3b84a9be

I'm fairly sure that this isn't the right place to post this topic, but I couldn't find a category more suited for it.

We use a fork of the Spoutcraft Launcher. NOT the client. As far as I know the SRV record stuff is all in the client and not the launcher.

Is there any way to add SRV Lookup myself with a mod or any other way to do the same thing an srv record does? Its a pain that everyone has to type the port 25625 to join my server, and I cant find anything on google
