  1. Okay, here's my deal.

If you took a chill pill and read what you apparently searched for properly, you will have found your problem and solution.

If you also posted in the proper report format, I wouldn't have to take a wild stab right now.

The server you are trying to access is running a higher version of java than you. There are servers out there running Java 7.

Now go and sort things out, whether that be altering your post so I/we know exactly what's going on, or using the search bar properly and following the advice given on other posts.

Want to know why people aren't usually helped? It's because people make eye-wateringly shocking posts such as yours, and the people who can help just skim over like nothing was there.

  2. What I find utterly distateful is that forestry is staying in AMCO.

Does SirSegnir not know this pack exists?

Did they ask him on a date or something?

Did I totally just refrain from writing something offensive and tasteless towards all sides involved in this utterly futile debate?

  3. I would be perfectly happy wearing a 'shit broke fix it technic team gosh' shirt.

I'm usually good at imitating art styles, but Cheap Shot is rather exhuberant and unique...

Perhaps that may change if I knew what progam he used to draw, though. If applicable.

  4. Bing!

Found the problem, all the class files have been dumped outside the minecraft jar in the tekkit folder, so the client is not able to run it. Therefore the launcher picked up a new set of vanilla stuff from minecraft.net, which explains the new folder.

No doubt the technic team were working on this well before I found it, so it's just a case of waiting patiently and appreciatively.

  5. i pasted my tekkit folder into my .minecraft. didnt work.....

And how on earth would that help at all?

I'm going to delete my regular minecraft entirely. The launcher downloaded everything, I just wanna find out why they aren't being used.

EDIT : My regular minecraft is full of voxel box stuff? Got banned from there months ago and deleted everything thereafter. Created new world, no miminap or flymod working. Bug No.1 found.

EDIT 2 : Downloaded devbuild three times now, white screen at each attempt. No logs given. Launcher screen stayed put, too.

EDIT 3 : Tekkit build finally got to main menu. Started new world. No mods. No nuffin. Went to appdata and found new .minecraft folder with new world data inside. No voxelbox stuff. My mistake.

  6. Every forum is littered with illiterate muppets. Some do more damage than others

Main reason I love this place, is the utterly sardonic approach to everything. Suits me perfectly :D

  7. I'm gonna have to try not to go into mod mode here, but quintuple posting...

Instead of just watching your thread be ignored, do something productive and sort this nonsense out. There is a sticky with the helpful words 'Required Reading'. This means you are required to read it.

Go do that now, before the cavalry arrives.

(Which update of java 6 is the nice bit of juicy information I am looking for, but I will continue to ignore you if you fail to correct anything)

  8. Anyway, what's the big hooha over BTW mod? It serves next to no place alongside technic, even in past versions.

Water wheels? Or pump out entire lakes.

Windmills? Tear up the landscape with quarries.

I say we let sleeping dogs lie (see what I did there?) and give up, chuckling every now and then as we reminisce of the futility of the whole thing.

  9. Launcher/pack Version: 0.5.4.9

    Operating System: Windows 7 64bit

    Version of Java: Version 6_31

    Description of Problem:

Just saw the new dev build and decided to try it out. After downloading finished, 'Tekkit' opened up.

It actually opened up my regular minecraft, including old configs, saves and server list.

I will delete my regular minecraft in a few hours if there are no posts and try again.

EDIT : Found what's up, see latest post. Ciao.

  10. The effort required to build your own map is minimal, however the effort required to gather peeps at specific times and moderate the games is somewhat larger.

I'd be willing to participate, but as for hosting... not sure my laptop would agree. Mind of it's own you see.

  11. All publishers are getting screwed over by microsoft, because microsoft gets a cut of console profits in the form of licensing fees.

Oddly enough, pc games do not give microsoft any monies whatsoever.

So of course microsoft will do anything to get the console version sold more.

And bethesda, aside from making awesome games, has the unfortunate downside of being a publisher too, susceptible to being dicked over.

  12. I sorta have to agree with Dijego's points here.

EE is a fantastic mod with some brilliant endgame items. (I couldn't bear to lose the mercurial eye)

Problem is is that it is too easy to acheive these ingame items in tekkit.

Normal practise for this mod is to throw everything you don't need into a relay or transmutation table.

But in technic/tekkit, there is a huge volume of things you can put in there. (Some servers even enable ores from all mods, trebling the amount of high value stuff you can put in there)

I have floated around perhaps two dozen servers since I started tekkit, and there are far too many players that have never bothered even with Industrial Craft 2's basic machines simply because it's easier to use Equivalent Exchange.

I would rather it stay because I love the items it comes with. But too many people love it becuase they can be drowning in diamonds in a weekend, with minimal effort.

I plan to raise this issue with x3n0ph0b3 later today, asking for a rethink of EMC values for mods, if I get some sensible non fanboy replies following this.

  13. One major reason you should follow the crash report, is that it should be accomanied with a crash report or error log. This either gets dumped wherever you put your technic smp folder, or on the desktop. Until then I can only surmise this is a serverside problem.

  14. It's not lag, it's reduced framerate.

Minecraft, and technic/tekkit specifically is very cpu and memory intensive. 2Gb of ram isn't enough after one hour of encountering tens of thousands of potentially dynamic entities. My laptop is on 1.6 dual core and 2Gb memory, and I hover around 30fps for about an hour, and it goes downhill from there.

Go buy another 1Gb stick or something, unless you are a poor sod like me with a naff laptop.
