Is it just me or is the ore table a mess in 1.0.6?
SemiPr0 replied to SemiPr0's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Yeah I don't generally go straight to quarries plus I'm a bit behind on Thermal Expansion and having to figure out the teching process all over again for this new version...which is all well and good. Just seems like diggy hole isn't working like it used to. -
So I've spent the better part of a day on my SMP server I've put up digging around. Seems to me there are inordinate amounts of iron, copper, and tin and silver at the < 16 level, and almost none of it at the < 45 level, where I'm mostly finding coal and small pockets of iron. I've filled up multiple chests with hand mined cobble and I've yet to find a diamond, though I've found a few emeralds. And out of all of it I've found all of 5 gold blocks and those were around the sub 40 level. I spent several hours strip mining down between 16 and 12 doing the standard 3x3 tunnels and turned up nothing that I would even consider rare or uncommon. Silver on occasion, lead...a few ferrous ores..but not diamond to be found in miles of tunneling. Was there an MC update that affected this or does the ore table seem a bit messed up to anyone else?

Generally one generator/macerator/extractor, then I push straight to geothermal after having cleared enough mining space to have uncovered/connected several large lava pools underground (volcano are dismal when it comes to lava production, more than 90% of the time the "lava chamber" at the bottom of the magma tube is all of maybe 10 source blocks maximum). Running 3 geothermal generators and a good sized large lava supply underground, that generally allows me plenty of time to build and transition to mid game engine generator builds that I enjoy using.

I'll give that a shot, I switched the Rei config to the apostrophe key and everything involved with it on that side but it didn't seem to make a difference. Whats even more hilarious is blowing through around 100000 EU to kill one zombie with it. Yeah that didn't work, switched to V, then switched to F, it simply doesn't switch modes at all.
-
Seems like the mining laser has no mode switch in this version of IC2, and its locked between low focus and long range...and thats fine and all, but it doesn't seem like the power requirements were adjusted in line with it. Effectively it seems like I go through 500000 EU pretty damn quick for having absolutely no options at all to increase the effectiveness of the laser beyond a hard set limit. Is this something I can adjust in the config? Cause if I'm going to blow through 500k EU that fast, I at least want to be making larger holes.
-
Odd, running my lava into the top of my tank arrays I've had no issues that stood out as different than Tekkit Classic. I've yet to get in depth on oil/fuel/water because I haven't started on engine generator projects yet. But my geothermal operation is working fairly well (though dimensional anchors are giving me fits atm, too many people with way too many chunks loaded.)
-
lol there is an inordinately large amount of gelatinous cube spawns in swamp biomes definitely. We had like huge spawns of them, like 16 or so big ones, spread out in groups of four above ground in this swamp biome right next tot he spawn in one of our latest SMP worlds. The squelching noise eventually got to everyone and we all moved as far away as possible.
-
Solar is good for powering refineries that make fuel that fuels generators, til there is a lot of extra fuel, then you can have the generator power the refinery as well during its generation cycle (I always use a state cell and timer to ensure my engines don't explode) so eventually the generator becomes self perpetuating as long as you have an oil source. But you have to kick it off with some kind of secondary power source just to get everything balanced out right. Engine Generators are probably my favorite combined IC/BC projects in Tekkit, every new world I try to make an even more insanely compact and even more powerful design.

Thanls luacs, I'm going to give it a spin now. No go on the 224 build http://pastebin.com/6MbjyaLi Will drop the pastebin to the github.

ForgePermissions, How it works, and How to Make it Work
SemiPr0 replied to Tux2's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
I'm not making demands. I'm just stuck running a multiplayer Tekkit Lite server that has all the adminstrative functionality of a vanilla minecraft server and since becoming dependent on BukkitForge is not advisable for a long term server solution....I am really hoping for the best out of FE...I don't really need a LOT of server side administrative stuff and FE is a nice tight package that does what I need it to do. I'm just cranked it got pulled in 0.5.2 and would have rather have kept the base alpha functionality than not have any at all. -
Just in case you hadn't noticed. The people that were Sphax patching Tekkit Lite appear to have gone off the grid suddenly and without much notice. Not sure if there are any other active Sphax patches for Tekkit Lite either. I'd post it on the bdcraft.net forums but their registration system never sends me my login authorization mail. Sooooo....there it is.
-
I got no results from either Tethers or Dimensional Anchors I'm afraid, then my server install got borked out by having them placed (in fairness one of them I'd made in 0.5.1 maybe that cause that problem I dunno). It'll be awhile before I can confirm or deny their functionality in SMP again...cause I currently don't have anything and seems like every new world I generate has no IC2 energy sources...I can't even find a rubber tree. Perhaps we're supposed to set the generation percentages ourselves in a config....which would have been good to know before updating I think.
-
That works for individual players, not for the world spawn. Fine for single player, not so good for multiplayer servers.

ForgePermissions, How it works, and How to Make it Work
SemiPr0 replied to Tux2's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
Did that, it doesn't work. Least the latest server complete causes an exception crash on start up with Tekkit Lite 0.5.2 -
I manually installed the latest build to my server, far as ForgeEssentials goes at least. Causes a exception crash on start up. I think its because they don't have a 1.4.7 build up yet. Far as BukkitForge goes I'm wary about becoming dependent on something that is variably failing or passing depending on the hour of the day.

Yeah its the dimensional anchors that I placed while testing, they're causing a chunk exception with the fresh install. A completely fresh world loads just fine. Just means everything we worked for in the 0.5.1 Lite release is now gone. And without ForgeEssentials I can't change the world spawn, its back to square one for everything now.

I just blank reinstalled it. I also had to fully reinstall my client launcher as well today cause it wouldn't let me communicate with Minecraft.net at all til I did.
-
I've installed the install exactly as its in the update, neither tethers nor dimensional anchors work. And I'd rather have ForgeEssentials than NOTHING. Now EVERYONE has to be an op or no one can do anything.
-
This is pretty much a game breaking disaster. Neither Tethers nor Dimensional Anchors work for keeping chunks loaded. Unless you're generating power directly in the chunk you're in, you have no power period. You can't even pump in oil or lava from remote locations via pipes because the pumps don't stay loaded. 0.5.2 is a fucking broken modpack. ForgeEssentials isn't even in it, theres no fucking permissions system to manage your server with at all, Theres no way to reliably keep chunks loaded on the server at all. You can't do anything with BC or IC2 unless you're literally doing it all in the same chunk on the server. They need to roll back this release, its fucked.
-
They're not working. I have two of them set up, one at my geothermal plant, the other at a lava chamber under a volcano about 150m away, both are set to 9x9, simple facts are if I go to the pump the pump pipe fills with lava, if I go about 32 blocks away from the pump the lava in the pipe disappears, back at my geothermal plant, no lava is being pumped to my tanks. As of yesterday using world anchors I had 4 tanks full of lava, as of installing 0.5.2 I now have no lava whatsoever and I can't keep the pump chunk and my power system chunk loaded at the same time.

ForgePermissions, How it works, and How to Make it Work
SemiPr0 replied to Tux2's topic in Tekkit Lite Discussion
Man thats fantastic luacs, we've got permissions for a server management system that isn't in the 0.5.2 install at all. -
Teleport Tethers don't seem to work as chunk loaders. Dimensional Anchors set to 9x9 aren't working either. Seems we just got F'd in the A, if you were using Railcraft world anchors to maintain pumps outside your chunk loading area, you're now completely fucked. What a fantastic release this is.
-
NM that was from the 0.5.1 install. ForgeEssentials isn't even IN 0.5.2 So we went from having spotty server controls to having none at all?
