  1. I think he means that you only have one block to work with, as opposed to other carriage types, where you can attach a second or a third engine/motor/controller to any other carriage in the contraption. However, I don't really think it's a problem unless you design REALLY small stuff, and even then, a template carriage is more compact than any other one in almost every circumstance.

  2. I could even find an updated download for slimevoids. You can create a ghetto wireless redstone setup with enderchests, comparators, and things of the sort. I am gonna try to get into modding in 1.7, I know a bit of java but I have never used forge before so I have no idea how hard it will be. But I am going to try to add some none multipart wireless redstone, that will possibly be able to hold more then one signal.

    There's a 1.6.4 version of Slimevoid's WR: http://slimevoid.net/downloads/

  3. Just a question. I've not been following the development of RiM for a good while now. Does it work with WRCBE? If yes, you do not even need a remote computer on the carriage structure. Just place 2 carriage engines (if you need 6 degrees of freedom), or 1 (if you need 5 or less DOF), and attach their sides to wireless receivers that receive remote signals from a stationary computer. Problem solved. The issue of computercraft's interaction with RiM is only an issue when there are no compatible wireless redstone mods, really.

  4. That laptop on amazon has two SSDs + 1 normal HDD. SSDs can be tiny, really tiny. Even at that size (2x128GB).

Also, 24GB of RAM isn't too much. My laptop has 16G and running out is quite common during work. Running virtual machines also gobbles up a ton of it. If it supported more RAM my employee wouldn't mind upgrading to 32G, unfortunately it doesn't.

What the hell do you do, parallel 3D rendering? 16GB is enough for most work situations and EVERY gaming situation.

  5. "Gaming laptop" is an oxymoron, no matter how much marketing divisions try to convince you otherwise. This comes due to natural problems such as heat dissipation during high CPU/GPU load, as well as problems with battery life (unless you are willing to connect to a power outlet or else restrict your gaming sessions to 20-30 minutes between recharges).

That said, if you want a laptop that you can play games on, there is no need to spend an inordinate amount of money. Get a moderately specced one, which will probably not be able to run Metro Last Light or BF4 on max settings, but will do pretty good otherwise. I don't see why you would need anything more powerful and pricey.

  6. Any chunk loader should theoretically work just fine. But be aware of the issue that when it is moved, the chunk loading function disappears for the duration of the movement. Which means that the machine unloads from the world. To alleviate this problem, create a second, small carriage that only has a chunk loader on it, and move it and the main machine in turns. This ensures that your contraption is 100% chunk loaded at all times.

  7. It's not up to the games to utilize a Titan. Drivers are supposed to do that, and the drivers for a Titan are just as good as any other Nvidia card. Also it's $999.99, Technically under $1000.

Yeah, you tell that to all those DX9 games that are stuck in 2003. Drivers are a big part of utilizing the graphics card. But a game has to be built specifically to be able to even draw that much power. I've said it before, my 670 can handle almost anything I throw at it. I was able to play Metro Last Light at close to max settings at 40-50 FPS while live streaming it at 1280x720 30fps. Buying a Titan right now is simply not worth it, even if you want to play Battlefield 4 (I was able to get the beta to run at a stable 60fps if I turned the ugly ambient occlusion off). Especially considering that soon AMD releases their new cards with Mantle support, that might drop prices on many of Nvidia's top cards to keep up with the competition.

  8. A Titan isn't overpriced. It's widely considered the best gpu on earth. and it cost the same as a 690....

It's still over a thousand dollars. That's way overpriced, and I don't care what you compare it to. I find in general that buying the LATEST RELEASED HARDWARE is just stupid - no games will be able to utilize it properly, and you just waste money.

  9. jakj, I have a question regarding chunk loader blocks. How do they behave in conjuction with the mod? I would assume that when such a block is moved, it is temporarily removed from the world, and stops functioning until reappearing in the next position. Would that cause the structure to unload and stop working? Because in that case, it'd be necessary to have 2 chunk loaders that move independently of each other.

  10. We all have some bad multiplayer experiences once in a while. Me and a few friends of mine had that on one of the servers, where the server owner had appointed his IRL friend as an admin, who abused his powers to punish our group after we were framed for committing a crime (stealing) that we did not commit. The whole thing was really stupid, and honestly, partly our fault, because our group is generally a rather bad-mouthed group, who have no reservations to call someone for who they are, no matter their power or veterancy status on the server. In short, we probably inadvertently created our own enemies, but the retaliation against us by that madmin was completely out of proportion, and after a heated debate with both him and the server owner, we decided to leave the server, seeing as our whole base was wrecked by a power-hungry jerk with no moral reservations, and we felt sour about the playerbase.

Why am I writing all this? To show that even when you've played for a long time, you can still stumble upon bad servers, and the only way to fix this is to move on to another one.
