  1. Server has moved to TekkitLite, this thread continues @ http://technicpack.net/forums/threads/0-5-3-evolution-r-d-pve-50-slots-open.36912/
  2. IP: Play.EvolutionRD.net Website and Forums: http://EvolutionRD.net Dynmap: http://Map.EvolutionRD.net Mumble Address: Mumble.EvolutionRD.net Mumble Port: 64738 Pack: EvolutionRD Pack Evolution R&D, also known as Evo, is one of the oldest Tekkit based servers still standing today. We were founded more than a year ago in February of 2012 during Tekkit Classic 1.1.4. We are an ever expanding and diverse group of individuals who love building and taking the game to new heights. We offer 3 main worlds for usage by the community. The first being the Overworld where you spawn. This is where you can build to your hearts content without fear of griefing. The second is the Scrapworld where you can gather resources and is replenished every so often so supplies don't go scarce. Finally, the nether where you will find many ores, plants and creatures. This world is also reset every so often. Between exploration and pushing the server to its limits, the fun never stops. New players are always joining and making friends, starting villages, building master pieces and learning the ways of the mods through research and development (#AwfulPun). Remember to contact staff with any questions you may have. Simply read the rules and start playing! Recently, we just had a full map reset and the world was remade for 1.5.2. Due to this, a variety of players are starting towns and we need more people to populate this new world. We are always looking for new players and we never turn down anyone so long as you follow the rules. Our server is run by a team of professionals in the field of Server Hosting, Software Development and IT. We offer some 100% custom mods coded by staff members that are not found on other servers, with the new map, the mods will only grow. There are a few banned items, generally the stuff you will find on other servers due to nature of how the item interacts with the world. This is to ensure griefing is kept to minimum and the players won't have to worry about lost projects. Currently we are running a 100 Slot server with 4GB DDR3 Triple Channel and an Intel 520 SSD. Check out what we had here and come be part of what we will be. Evolution R&D is full of different Plugins and Mods that help protect players and their creations while allowing them to work together to grow the servers economy. 3. Hmm you might want to try running vanilla minecraft server on it first and see if you get the same errors. Also iirc CentOS has many different java packages you can pick from, including openjdk and the one that oracle provides (which you won't find in the open source repositories). Maybe try a different one and make sure you don't have more than one installed.
  4. I like this. Another idea (thought maybe even harder to implement): do magnet links to packs. So that when I click a link on a server thread my browser suggests to open it in technic launcher, which then downloads the pack and installs it for the user. Probably works in Windows only, but then again that's about everyone anyways.
  5. Give mods everything that helps manage the crowds but doesn't allow them to cheat. Don't give mods access to spawning items, doing rollbacks, using worldedit etc. Reserve all those cheating methods for admins only. Do give mods banning, kicking, muting, jailing, lwc moderating, protection bypassing, teleporting and other things they need to pwn misbehaving people.
  6. Niavmai is right. Don't come begging here, it's not a charity site. If I or anyone happen to have too much money for some reason I will much rather donate it to the tekkit mod devs than a youtube channel. If your youtube channel is any good, it will make the 40 $/month for you to buy a server.
  7. My favorite end-game pass-time is doing start over challenges. Such as starting over without any EE items, without buildcraft pipes, without server adminshop etc. Or do a skyblock challenge. Or just build something very complicated like a framemotor airship or an obstacle course with force fields.
  8. Also Redpower, immibis mods and some other minor stuff nobody cares about. Besides, there's also the bukkitforge/forgebukkit/forge/bukkit mess thing that I don't quite understand good enough to make any sophisticated guesses for the ETA that this thread so much shouts for (although avoiding the actual word as per the rules).
  9. Does having one timer and a lot of wire instead of two timers really reduce lag? I think timer lag is largely due to timers updating the wires every x ticks, then the wires lighting up and updating all surrounding blocks' lighting. So having two timers would mean less wire and thus less lighting updates. But of course adding and extra timer adds to lag too. I haven't read eloraam's or anyone's actual code behind this so just guessing...
  10. A little quiet on xmas, a lot of our staff is away visiting their relatives too, but we should be back to the usual player amounts in a couple of days.
  11. Opened a new small pvp world today. With class picking and all that usual simple stuff. Also wanted to post just to let people know we're still running good as ever, just haven't bumped this thread in a while.
  12. Well since I have been running a Tekkit server succesfully for over 6 months now I guess I can make you the working configs in like 10 minutes and charge you the 20 £ for it to further fund my own server. However Tekkit is not a set-it-and-forget-it setup and it if you make a public server then it will only run fine for so long until you run into problems and I'm certainly not willing to be an always reachable helpdesk for anyone. If it's a private server for you and your friends only then it might work somewhat fine with just the initial setup. Pm me if you want the configs and want to pay the 20 £ for it, however do know that I'm not necessarily reachable after making those.
  13. Re-install computercraft? It has a ton of files server side you know (mods/computercraft and worldname/computercraftdata). Some of those might be corrupted.
  14. I decompiled the whole thing to fix the bug for bone/bonemeal as well. Link to the patched class file below, you're welcome. http://www.evolutionrd.net/files/TileEntityMacerator.class
  15. Server has been a bit quiet because many people are starting school this week, but we are certainly not dead and you can still find a dozen people online on almost any evening.
  16. Since almost everyone on these forums has java 7 installed on their machines, I felt like warning you a bit. Yesterday some hackers released a 0-day java 7 security exploit, which allows them to run any code on your machine. All you have to do is click a link in your internet browser or email client and you're infected. 0-day also means that there's no patch for it yet, so there's no way for you to protect yourself other than uninstall java 7 (and thus technicpack) or be extremely cautious until a patch comes out. I'm not gonna click any links on these forums or minecraft forums (2 of the biggest java7-using communities in the internet) until a patch comes out and I suggest you do the same. Anyway, here's a link with more info. I suggest you don't click it. But how could you resist? http://www.deependresearch.org/2012/08/java-7-0-day-vulnerability-information.html
  17. See here: http://technicpack.net/forums/threads/lwc-adding-mod-items-95-complete.18703/ It's another similar list made by greedseed and me.
  18. I think we have struck the balance with donator ranks pretty nicely. We allow donators to have Swiftwolf's rending gale (aka. the flying ring) but regular players can also fly with jetpacks (which are just a bit more annoying to use than rending gales). If you donate even more you get the extra sethomes and access to /tpa and whatnot. I do wish I could change some of the perks though, since I have supposedly gotten wiser since the early days of the server. But once you pick some you gotta go with what you got I suppose. I don't need to make more money than what's needed to pay for the server, but sure enough it would be nice to have some buffer.
  19. We got some new features lately. Titles system, new market plots area and new pvp arena were added.
  20. So... this is probably the biggest problem for most server owners, but still there are yet no threads about it. Let's start one. I have been running a server successfully for over 6 months now. Every month we have gotten just enough donations from players so that I can pay for the server without having to use too much of my own money. I am however very tired of having to worry about it so much every month. Some time ago we used to make it easily every month but lately it has been much harder for whatever reason. I would like tips from you guys to how I could raise some money to pay for my server. How do you do it? Just get some donations and pay the rest yourself? Advertisements on your website? Have your players do surveys or other shit like that? Hack banned user accounts and sell them on black market? Get funded by the Vatican for telling all the kids on your server about jesus? I just cannot justify spending 50 €/month on a video game from my own pocket, so as you might guess, I need some better options than the some of the ones above.
  21. Hmm I don't know what kind of communication errors you are experiencing. Sometimes the "multiplayer select server to connect to" screen shows communication error messages even though it works when you actually try to connect.
  22. It's because you have wrong version of Tekkit installed. As said, update your Tekkit version from techniclauncher options (select 3.1.2).
  23. Here's what we use at Evolution R&D. It's not nicely commented like the above. I think it includes more things than the above list (for example mffs items) so it might help you find more things to enlist. Then again I haven't checked the whole list since Tekkit 3.0 so some IDs (especially for EE and BC that we have since disabled) might be outdated. blocks: chest: enabled: true autoRegister: private furnace: enabled: true autoRegister: private dispenser: enabled: true autoRegister: private sign: enabled: true autoRegister: private wooden_door: enabled: true iron_door: enabled: true trap_door: enabled: true '246': enabled: true '130': enabled: true '246:1': enabled: true '246:2': enabled: true '246:3': enabled: true '246:4': enabled: true '246:5': enabled: true '233': enabled: true '250:1': enabled: true '250:2': enabled: true '250:3': enabled: true '250:4': enabled: true '250:5': enabled: true '250:6': enabled: true '250:7': enabled: true '250:8': enabled: true '250:10': enabled: true '250:11': enabled: true '250:13': enabled: true '250:14': enabled: true '227': enabled: true '227:1': enabled: true '227:2': enabled: true '227:3': enabled: true '227:4': enabled: true '227:5': enabled: true '187': enabled: true '187:1': enabled: true '187:2': enabled: true '188': enabled: true '188:1': enabled: true '188:2': enabled: true '123:3': enabled: true '123:5': enabled: true '123:6': enabled: true '123:7': enabled: true '30185': enabled: true '137': enabled: true '137:1': enabled: true '137:2': enabled: true '137:3': enabled: true '150': enabled: true '150:2': enabled: true '150:3': enabled: true '150:4': enabled: true '150:5': enabled: true '150:6': enabled: true '150:8': enabled: true '150:11': enabled: true '151': enabled: true '155': enabled: true '153': enabled: true '157': enabled: true '161': enabled: true '161:1': enabled: true '161:2': enabled: true '164': enabled: true '167': enabled: true '169': enabled: true '174': enabled: true '128': enabled: true '181': enabled: true '181:1': enabled: true '181:2': enabled: true '181:3': enabled: true '181:4': enabled: true '181:5': enabled: true '207': enabled: true '208': enabled: true '134': enabled: true '134:1': enabled: true '134:2': enabled: true '149': enabled: true '194:1': enabled: true '169': enabled: true '253': enabled: true '253:1': enabled: true '253:2': enabled: true '253:3': enabled: true '253:4': enabled: true '253:5': enabled: true '253:6': enabled: true '253:7': enabled: true '253:8': enabled: true '253:9': enabled: true '254': enabled: true '254:1': enabled: true '254:2': enabled: true '254:3': enabled: true '254:4': enabled: true '254:5': enabled: true '254:6': enabled: true '254:7': enabled: true '254:8': enabled: true
  24. Simple solution: run command /op [redpower] in console. This is not the best way of doing it, but it achieves the results you are after.
