  1. For a half a second there, I wasn't paying attention, and I was wondering why CheapShot would be asking about real Minecraft. On a somewhat unrelated note, I'm assuming your Probated avatar is, in fact, faked. :)

Nah, he is actually probated. Or at least he was.

  2. I recently took a look through all the comics and I gotta say one thing: Amazing job. If I understand correctly, you do the Creepered Out (Don't remember exactly what it's called) and the other authors do the other comics?

  3. Uum. I am using GLSL fine right now. It even says it requires optifine. Follow the intall instuctions and it works just fine. However, I recommend finding the class files from the optifine given to you through the launcher, and replacing them with the Smooth version. Saves you a fair amount of fps here and there.

It's probably because of the age of my computer or because of the hardware it uses. IE: Shit.

  4. sorry, but GLSL is incompatible with optifine, so these mods can't be used with tekkit/technic. Also, for some bizzare reason, the water shader mod is also incompatible with GLSL. Fuck knows why.

That's strange, because they say that Optifine makes it work better.

Anyway, I have tried to use the shaders, but my computer said, "Lol, fuckno" and promptly closed my game as soon as the world finished loading.

  5. You are no longer Kellered because you haven't done anything stupid for a little bit after being kellered. Contrary to popular belief, it's a temporary thing. Consider it your first warning I guess.

  6. I only modded my Skryim with three mods. A better snow texture, an update to map markers that tell what ore is in the mines, and a mod that reduced the weight of pick axes and axes. Otherwise, I ran around as an Argonian paladin, wearing heavy armor, crushing skulls with a 2handed mace, and healing myself if the enemy was able to do damage to me at all.

  7. Not really. There was still the problem of the losing side shedding players due to them not wanting to lose all the time.

Wintersgrasp is a battlefield that ran every two hours, and required the current owners to defend a set of walls from the attacking team's siege weapons. Also included were towers the defenders could destroy to decrease the time limit, and siege workshops the attackers had to hold so they could actually use siege weapons.

The siege weapons were the only things that could hurt the defender's walls, and they did not benefit from tenacity.

So it would usually go down with the horde side having 30-40 people while the alliance had 5-10. Atleast 2 alliance were needed just to hold a single siege workshop, so you have 3-8 left to man a couple wet tissue vehicles and hope to get one shot off at one of the 3 layers of wall (which required something like 25-30 each shots to take down). Then walk your way back through a ton of crowd control spam and try to get another shot off.

And this all assumes the alliance side plays smart, instead of the usual 10 complete idiots all running around trying to get as many kills in as possible before losing.

Oh, and did I mention your side had to have control of wintersgrasp in order for you to progress through PvE gear upgrades?

All in all, until they implemented team size caps, all WG did was unbalance server populations. So badly that the effect is still easily felt a year after WG became something to ignore, and will sadly probably still continue well into the next expansion.

There's also that dungeon inside of WG that you can only get into if you hold it. And most of the people immediately there would be geared for PvP and not for dungeons. And yes, there is a HUGE difference between the two.

  8. The way cheapshots been acting lately?

I dont mean that in a bad way...but it feels like since the whole forestry incident, Cheapshots been going around showing people that Technic's not run by assholes. Im used to seeing him pop into a thread once, saying "Get bent" and banning someone on here. Lately...he's been pretty helpful. To the people that deserve it anyway.

On a related note...It seems people have calmed down a bit since then...Though I haven't checked flowerchilds forums lately....So that's always good.

Either he's changed, or he hasn't had a reason to say it because the IQ of new users seems to be somewhat better than it used to be.

  9. Been playing about as long.

I've had my share of shit groups and really good groups. Most of the shit groups were deadmines, long before LFD.

PvP tends to give me shit groups though. Freaking hate solo defending a flag/point while the rest of the team goes "But the kills are over here!" or "Hold the roads! It totally worked once!" or "Don't concentrate on one gate, it totally works to send split up and send half the siegers away so they chase them!" or my personal favorite "Everyone to docks! Hangar, Workshop, and everything else are useless!" which is usually said 4-5 lost games in a row...

Wintergrasp on my server was pretty even. The Horde would hold it for a bit, then the Alliance would. Generally I think the Alliance held it more. Although my Battlegroup fricking sucks. Horde is always better.

  10. Could also be the normal Cave Sounds that play when you are near an unlit open area. These sounds actually come from where the open space is too, so if you want to go cave hunting, listen to which way the sound comes from.

  11. I've been playing since almost a year after WoW came out. Never had much trouble with people in groups. Maybe because I'm the tank and if they don't follow me they kinda get reamed. Anyway, yeah, I have had next to no trouble at all with people on WoW. Maybe it changed recently because this time I only got to level 85 and bailed out. Hopefully the next patch will hold me in for longer. Ah, well, if not there's always games like TF2 that I could use for my multiplayer, and Sacred 2 for my grindfest RPG.

  12. Particularly anything rated D for Dorf. those are always... informative.

you should also check out some of the old bugs, as they could be pretty entertaining. (Oh god, carp, what the high hell.)

Dwarfs also put both socks on the same foot until the one of the most recent updates. Apparently Toad had made a multi legged dwarf to test to make sure it would work. It did.

  13. So I decided to fire up the Technic launcher again, and I decided to download this. Best RPG mod yet, but there doesn't seem like there is much to do than either explore the towers or the underground dungeon/labrynths. Is there anything else to do in it?

  14. Here's my relevant system specs:

    2 GB ram

    250 GB HDD

    Geforce 8600 GTS

    AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ @2200 Mhz

About the most graphically intense game I can play is TF2, unfortunately. Forces me to use an Xbox for all the new games.

I'm hoping to buy parts for a new rig and build one myself once Ivy Bridge comes out and once I have enough dough. I'm hoping for something like a kepler-based Geforce 660 Ti to come out. That, 8 Gigs of RAM (Really cheap these days!) and the Ivy Bridge version of the i5 2500k would be a perfect build for my needs.

    What OS are you using?

  15. Re: Is there a version of the technic launcher that.....

better safe then sorry. Plus what to stop them from using a dual routing code to give them our account information while logging us into the server. I mean, I guess people can be dumb enough to "trust" someone, but I don't trust anyone only when it come to them asking me to give out my account information. I didn't ask them to log me into the server I just want the mods added to my minecraft. I guess I'll have to do it myself since I'm feeling a sense of elitist coming from you guys.

Well considering that doing that is pretty much the same as phishing (albeit in a slightly different method other than e-mail or instant messaging), I would say that a hefty fine and possible jail time is what is keeping them from doing that.

Also, just looked up the penalties. They are: Jail time, probation, significant fees and fines, seizure and forfeiture of property, restitution, and community service.

  16. Re: Is there a version of the technic launcher that.....

Yeah,I don't wanna give you my account information.I don't know you and I don't trust you with something that has had my credit card information used.

First off, the Technic team has no way of getting your information through their launcher. It sends your information directly to the minecraft.net servers. Also, your credit card information isn't saved with your account. It was only used to actually purchase the game. If they looked at your credit card they would not be able to find your account, nor would it work the same way if they looked at your account information. Your credit card's influence ended after the purchase.

  17. Well, do you have a firewall that automatically blocks things trying to get access to the internet? I know Window's Firewall (a crummy piece of crap that blocks game trying to connect to the internet and not have the courtesy to minimize it) does it all the time. Try adding it to your firewall's exceptions.

  18. It is, it's quite nice. As with anything, it could be better, but overall I'm satisfied with it.

Windows vista eventually had a patch which allowed you to "turn off" aero, but it was almost completely useless.

As usual, windows is awful at estimating requirements. 1.5-2 gigs is about right for vista, but 7 can operate reasonably on 1 - 1.5

That's why I normally don't give a toss about system requirements. Unless if it says something like: "Origin account required for online game." In which case I say, "Fuck you EA," and proceed to play something else that hasn't been tainted by EA's money grubbing hands.

  19. Actually windows 7 tends to use less ram from what i've seen.

Also, win7 made aero toglleable, so you can disable it to vastly improve performance on low end computers. XP is still faster for low end machines, but between homegroups and the new navigation layout, i've been much happier with win7 than i was with XP.

Aero is toggleable in Vista as well. Just not to the same extent as Win 7. I think the most you can do to change it is to turn off glass window borders and that's about it. I also listed the requirements, not how much it actually used. Personally, I have not used Win 7 at all, but I imagine it is as good as they say it is.
