Enchant a pickaxe for efficiency, go to the nether, dig away. The nether is RICH, and a fast pickaxe will give you a chance to grab the ores before they explode. Diamonds galore! Seems to me there's less risk of lava lake at layer 11 than in the overworld, even. Can of course be combined with automatic mining methods like a turtle.

It did not work right away, but after clearing cache and clicking around a bit it seemed to get the message and is now loading <3 The log reads like it's trying to download technicssp (or something), then checksums against tekkitlite and of course finds a mismatch. So it's downloading the wrong thing?

It also does mention Matmos and ComputerCraft though they should not be here for Tekkit Lite? Launcher version: 1.0.3.4. Java version: 7.10 So, you can update your Java to 7.10, but it doesn't fix things for me. I'll read through the log and see if I get any smarter.

How did you install it? Did you put it into Minecraft.jar? How about deleting minecraft.jar, or replacing it with a clean one - and then let the Technic Launcher download (or modify) it again for you. I have some hard questions too, like why the heck are you installing Optifine when Tekkit already has optifine?

Sometimes when it says Update Failed it actually means "login failed", this often happens because certain actions in the technic launcher seems to add spaces in front of your username, making your login invalid. Either delete those or click the avatar that appears on the left after you've logged in the first time, that will automatically log you in with the right username. Another thing that can fail for me is Techniclauncher can't seem to download the minecraft files, so if you manually download the right version (copy if over from your normal minecraft install) to put in the technicSSP bin folder, then login again it seems to work out and download the mods correctly. The launcher can be a bit quirky like that, but I hope this helps you. I'm one of those texture pack artists, except I play tekkit instead of finish any textures, but I was playing the latest builds and ran into some lead, silver, copper and ferrous ore (cool). Right, so, I distinctly remember my own custom silver/copper ore working in the recommended build, but now it doesn't. I know it's because technic doesn't use Redpower's silver and stuff like that so I had to paste it into the IC terrain textures. I've been poking around the mod folders to try to guess where I paste it now, but I have had no luck so far. Is there a guide to where I put all these textures? Technicpack has a loooot. I've previously had some luck breaking open Faithful 32x to copy the structure, but that only works if they update faster than me. By the way, here's my basalt blocks so far
