  1. It's a bug with the mod version used in the recommended build. I'm using the newest version and that issue is fixed, but now the art for the component pieces are all scrambled... The solenoids are green books.
  2. You gotta go into the options on the launcher and up the memory allocation to as high as you can go. It's the little gear shaped icon next to the red 'X'.
  3. I just use a relay of ultimate energy cells. They are expensive and take a while to build but they hold an ungodly amount of juice when lined up back to back.
  4. Dang I was going to say a custom texture pack was the problem but... nope! Side question: How much memory do you have?
  5. IC2 was a good gateway mod but it was, in the end, a learning process for an aspiring modder. Now that modder fell of the friggin map and the mod itself is a ghostly shell. I used to be in the same boat as the OP but give yourself a couple of hours, try out the new mods (give the powersuit mod a chance), and you'll realize that you can do about 99% of the things you could've done in IC2. If you need help, hit the wikis.
  6. Induction is great in the beginning because it'll pump out ingots fast, and you get the added bonus chance of rich slag (which triples ore)... but once you get power really going, you're better off using pulverizers and electric furnaces. Gotta get a good powerstation going or the process speed suffers. Once I get a large stockpile of pulverized obsidian I'm gonna dabble with Fusion reactors. Gotta try and not blow myself up in the process.
  7. I've got both but recently starting using the redstone energy cell. The energy cubes are relatively cheap to make (up to elite) but after getting around to creating a factory floor that can process obsidian I finally got around to making the redstone cell. Was wondering which one is better to use in the long run. I had to completely relearn the modpack, but finally things are coming together. You can imagine the learning curve when the last version played was back when Technicpack had Millenaire and Better Than Wolves.
  8. Edit: Rednet cables are not as compact but they get the job done nonetheless. Basalt and marble seem to be as common as an ore vein.
  9. Coming from someone who intially freaked out over the removal of IC2 (and to an extent RP2) but after putting in about 20-30 hours in the new version, I'd say the only thing really that I miss are the red wires. I see a lot of people mentioning the quantum suit and sometimes the mining tools, both which are easily replaced by the Tinkering Mod and the Powersuits. To be honest, I'm now glad the IC2 machines are gone, too many random explosions and loudass annoying machines.
