Problem Making Server

So long ago I wanted to make a server so me and my friends can join it. I try to get it online but it never does, it just works in my local network.Whenever I try to join it by using my internet ip it wont, I have watched tons of guides to do it but none seem to work.By the way im using the server version 3.0.4
