Tekkit 2.0 Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: Bad packet id 235 on upgrade

Question

Posted

If I play on a new world everything is ok and running. If playing on a old 1.1.4 world which was converted and even Nether and Ender-world is deleted it continues to show this error on the client (created a new tekkit-folder and copied the world-folder; used the converter on this folder). Even the Server shows an error if I try to connect:

What could cause this behaviour?

Minecraft loaded and used by Technic launcher from today

OS Windows 7 (amd64 version 6.1

Java 7 (64bit) Oracle

I Cleared the cache and tested a little around with recopying the world and deleting nether and ender-world but it seems to have no affect on this one. As mentioned with a new server-world it runs as expected.

Even deactivating clevercraft (Crafting table II) won't help.

We are having the exact same error on our server.

Exception is we are using a save from the 2.0 version before it was taken down. Is there any way to convert/use the 2.0 from before it was taken down for a fix?

the old 2.0 was pronounced that it will not be able to be used with the correct 2.0. I used therefore the 1.1.4 format as basis. even retesting the 1.1.4 world was successful. But the Upgrade shows this bad packet 235.

On other Mods the 235 error will occour if modloader is not installed first... but on the other hand: why does it run with a completely new world??? Very intersesting if i were asked...

I, too, am having this exact issue. Didn't attempt to deactivate crafting table 2, but i used both my old nether and End files, and then deleted and attempted again. Any help would be appreciated. Logs follow.

evilburt enabled connecting, but wireless redstone is then totaly stuck and the world changes some blocks in your inventory... i test the kakermix-solution right now.

The WirelessRedstoneClient.zip is needed to get into the server. We're still crashing the server. He'll post the log in a second.

With the zip file previously mentioned i can login but then the server crashes on the ic luminator

ok rechecked. both solutions together (wireless client.zip and kakermix worldupdater 1.1.jar) and wireless redstone runs on SMP as expected... but a crowbar and highspeedtrasitionrails in my inventory getting changed to a signal invoker and choke oven bricks... But thats less disturbing. Now it seems to run on the majority of the mods.

keep in mind that the loading benches siappear with all items in them...

ok checking further into the update: it seems that multple items of railcraft were wrongly transformed. Choke coals are now item loaders? and breaking a glass half-block (Redpower) bring the server to crash with an internal server error:

Sorry kakermix i think there is more work to be done for an upgrade from 1.1.4 to 2.0

Not Kakermix's responsibilty. Sorry, I didn't have time to do much testing. Unfortunately it wasn't just block ids that changed for railcraft so that's why things in your inventories will change around. I'll have a look at the other problems now.

  • 0

Well its not only the wrong ids. I could live with it as nei is installed, but the servercrash on removing a block is not something what could be lived with. It seems just for now to buggy for a migration from 1.1.4 to 2.0. but hey, it is ok.

But whats really interesting is that on a new world all seems to run without any issue. Sadly my coplayers won't start a new world just for such a little bug. so i do what i have to do: Report any traceable bug and wait for a proper running version. ;)

At least I'm happy that it is not my time and wits which have to eliminate those bugs. Therefore I will give you kakermix and your whole team (i include havocx42 if i were allowed to) a great thank you. Last year it was my job to do this "getting the mods running". And now i just have to wait. Hilarious.

Continue with your great work on making such a nice mod-compilation. I'll enjoy it a lot.

oh havocx42 i forgot to tell you: the nether and the end-worlds were not able to be chosen by your midas-tool. would it be possible to add them as well if anybody has already populated those worlds? This would be nice.

So yeah remove wireless receivers, get your clients updated or remove the wireless redstone mod from the server.

For the railcraft item ids if you want to go find all the changes then I can get an update out easily for you.

That problem with the glass half block doesn't sound like a problem with block id's and I couldn't replicate it + nothing has changed with redpower so I'm afraid I can't help you with that.

EDIT:

Are you talking about midas or the WorldUpdater?

If anyone else is having a problem with crashing while removing blocks after a conversion please let me know

Sorry i thought they were the same in function except the fact that the id-changelist for tekkit is preintegrated.

I apologize Kakermix I don't wanted to offend you in any way. I just wanted to tell that there is something more not running as expected. I think it was a misunderstanding as I'm no english native speaker.

Yes WorldUpdater is a branch of Midas but I wanted to know whether you wanted bukkit-nether support for the actual midas *gold* tool. It should already work for the WorldUpdater in 1.1. I haven't released the latest version of midas yet which the WorldUpdater is based off.

ok now after testing it again, it still keeps being a bit strange. after checking a oilpump a bit far off and getting back all tracks placed on Glascovers were droped off. The server-crash seems to be persistent but now without disconnect. simply the application hangs after breaking a glas half block from Redpower. Glasscovers seem to be no problem so far.

Checking on other railcraft-items it seem that the highspeed-rails were switched to normal rails as well. the iridium-helmet from IC2 won't fill the hunger-meter any more.

the creosote-oil was switched to the item unloader, sorry to correct this

the choke coal switched to cart-dispensers

the tunnelbore and the diamond borehead switched as well but not sure to which item.

the wood-posts switched to liquid loaders

the crowbar switched to a signal tuner

the transition rails switched to concrete blocks

and the other items were mostly not used by our server.

the layed rails seemed to be not affected this far except for the drop off from the Glass-covers.

would it be helpful to give you the world-files? From before switching may be?
