OS: Windows 7 64 Bit

Description of Problem:

When i am playing tekkit, it will run smooth for 10 seconds and then lag down to 5 fps. I have 3 gb of RAM dedicated to Javaw and Java, and i7 Geforce GTX 580. I used the launcher options to dedicate 1.5 gig to tekkit. It still lags, please help.

Make sure your graphics card is up to date. Do you have optifine? Also try hitting the F7 key in game.

10 seconds to fill up 1.5 gigs of ram.... only plausible if the chunk is overloaded...

I think it is a memory problem, i tried singleplayer and it crashed to the "Minecraft has run out of memory" Screen. I also did try pressing F7, didnt do anything.

That's wierd. You have the same amount of memory dedicated as I do, and I don't really have any problems. Maybe try dropping your view distance a bit?

I cant even get to the video settings before it crashes. Any other ideas?

You can change video options from the main menu, unless it's crashing before you can even get that far.

If that doesn't work, try dropping the allocated memory to 1GB, that's what I have mine set to

Lasts a little longer, but still crashes.
