Antivirus Program: before: AVG free Now: avast free, i changed antivirus neither work.

Description of Problem:

I was told to make a new thread because my problem is apparently so far unique. After the shortcut is clicked, whether on .exe or .jar, the launcher begins to start up as normal, it gets to the logo splash screen and stops there, the screen is permanently there until ended in task manager. I first had the cannot connect to minecraft.net bug but that changed to this after i restarted my router. i have tried:

Redownloading launcher,

Redownloading .techniclauncher in %appdata%

rebooting pc

redownloading java

updating java

downgrading java

allowing through firewall

turning off antivirus and firewall and both at a time.

shouting

punching a pillow

suffocating in my own misery

I am by no means a code junkie, and i understand you are frustrated, so If it is ok with you, i figured we could start brainstorming ideas here....get the creative juices flowing at the very least

Now it is my understanding that spoutcraft basically is the connection between the server and client, and in that error log, it is saying that it cannot access any of the mirrors.....Being a PC tech that makes me think that there is a disconnect somewhere between the PC and the main servers (captain obvious, i know )...I know you have disabled your antivirus, and even changed it...but do you have any other programs on the computer that act as protection? a port blocker or anything like that?

Malware is another option....you might try Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free version) and see if it comes back with anything....this one isnt as likely, but at this point, it gives us something to think about...

Let me know....just throwing out ideas in the hopes that it may trigger something to bring forth a resolution to your issue. If you want me to just keep my thoughts to myself, let me know lol

I'm just going to reply to all of these posts at once. I tried the .jar yes, I also ran an anti virus check to check for malware or other issues, i found none, I do only have less than a mb/s of broadband and even less at the moment as recently it went completely down the drain, this could be why it cannot contact the servers. To my knowledge i have no port blockers on my pc or router. My router even has a gaming mode. Thanks for the help guys I appreciate that.

I was not being unpleasant i was, if anything, correcting a misunderstanding of my post, I understand the warning i got, "a low effort post", this is completely different to bumping and if my post was taken as negative i am sorry, i was simply attempting to defend my corner and keep the peace on my post. If it was bumping, i misunderstood what bumping was, i have noticed bumping a lot worse than this, please could you deal with them rather than me who may have accidentally bumped once. well there is a couple sure fire ways to tell if it is indeed the internet.

1.) if its a laptop, take it somewhere else and try to connect. (figure you would have tried this by now if that was the case )

2.) if its a desktop, flex your muscles, and carry it to a buddies house and use his net/monitor/mouse/keyboard (cutting corners lol) and see if it works.

3.) if all else fails tether it with a smartphone and try it that way (i have played like this, so i know it works) if you need tips/suggestions on apps to tether, let me know.

Bumps ARE low effort posts.

As for other people bumping, report it. We punish every instance of bumping that we see, but the fact that we are not omniscient doesn't excuse YOUR rule breaking.

I've experienced the same issue with launcher and v7 of java... just roll back to v6 update 33 and all is fine. i guess it will take some time to fix this kind of issues... 2 things, first of all uninstall every trace of java7 from the pc, get the 6.33 from the download page of java then reinstall. before starting the launcher save your worlds by moving the folders to unother place then erease the .thecnicLauncher folder, start the launcher and hopefully it will work. didi it in my case. hope it will help.

Guys, can you stop shitting on this guy? It's been a while since he started this post, and I've been the only one helping him, and my knowledge of Java is limited.

You all should know better.

Tethering your computer will solve nothing. Cabling will give it faster speeds, but will not solve the problem at hand.

Now, upon further review of past cases, it really seems like random as to which 'common sense fix' works.

All I can suggest now is that you either rage because I tell you you're inept, and go through every single fix on the Common Problems thread,

or you re-install your OS.

I have not found a genuine fix for your problem across dozens of similar errors.
