JunkyPic
Hello, Recently I started a Tekkit server, all went well until the dreaded:"[WARNING]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded?' error poped up out of nowhere. Before anything else, let me give you a quick glance at the server's hardware: Processor - Intel Xeon E3-1230 4 Cores (8 HT Cores) RAM - 16 GB DDR3 HDD - 120 GB SSD Internetz speed - 100Mbps Unmetered connection. Running on Ubuntu Server 12.xx - can't remember at the moment. List of plugins currently installed: AlchemistFix AutoMessage BorderGuard CoreProtect Dynmap Essentials ItemStacker LagMeter LWC PermissionsBukkit RecipeRepro SimpleAFKKick WorldEdit WorldGuard The current world is limited at 3.000 block distance from the spawn point and is about 100 305 MB large. The player limit is 25. The RAM allocations is as follows: java -Xmx10G -Xms4G -jar Tekkit.jar nogui I've found a thread related to this issue on the forums, http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/how-to-improve-mincraft-server-performance.662/. Overall I'm a little skeptical if this will work. I'm asking 2 things only: 1. What are the general causes of this error and how will it affect server performance? 2. Is there any way to solve this problem? P.S. I forgot to mention I'm using some "costume" mods to solve some exploits of tekkit: http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/known-fixes.22447/
cproo12
this happens to my server too, though i only have 3 gigs allowicated, it doesnt affect the performance at all for me, so i just leave it be and let it spam the console, after a while it will stop.. JGreen1996
Just to add a note on your Ubuntu version, you're most likely running 12.04 because the 12.10 beta 1 only came out yestarday.
pherce
Try running RAMDISK. You've got plenty of memory. Just set up rdiff to run every so often (every 15 minutes is probably fine) and you will be loving life. Quick and easy way is to toss it on /dev/shm/ and launch. You will have 8gb by default for your RAMDISK (half your memory) and you can increase it through fstab if your world ever gets that big.
ace223
i had this problem. how regular is it in the console? if its every 1-3 seconds then there is most likely mass of drops on the ground (due to buildcraft pipe over flow) or some extremely big quarrys causing the server to be forcing too many block updates. These things helped my server, it might do the same for you.
