I downloaded the windows launcher for technic

Description of Problem:

I downloaded the window launcher for Technic I double click it it says run I click run and a thing comes up and says: Checking Launcher Update that goes up for litteraly 2sec then goes away

Honestly, MC and TP shouldn't be run on XP (let alone an HP laptop), it's going to have compatibility issues because of Java 6 restrictions (I believe) or just be slow.

Windows XP can use Java 7 just fine, I have duel boot with Win8 and it has no problem .
