How does SharePoint compare as an online file sharing alternative to copy.com and dropbox

There has been a suggestion made to me to use a free SharePoint account as an alternative online file storage option to dropbox and copy; anyone here has any experience with the same?

I myself haven't used that but i recommend to just keep using old and working ones!
