Launcher Version: 7.2

Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

Java Version: Java 7 64-bit

Antivirus Program: AVG

Description of Problem:

The logo gets stuck on my screen and doesn't do anything. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling technic launcher with my antivirus and all of that disabled through Firefox. I have also reinstalled Java multiple times so that's the right version. I have run it as an admin and I've checked that it is running through Java and not another program.

When the launcher opens click on the options button. However, after rereading your report, I do not actually know if your launcher gets to that point. Which logo is it stuck on?

Yeah it doesn't get to that it's the very first logo when you load it up. It 'checks' the launcher version and that seems fine and then it gets stuck and you can't get it off the screen?

You are an idiot.

Here is why:

Hey, the mods don't want people to know this and refuse to put it on the common problems, but technic doesn't work with java 7. You have to use java 6 buddy. It took me weeks to find this out. Glad I could help

As Torezu has stated in other threads, that is only a temporary patch job. It will not work well and not using the latest version of Java will preclude you from other things as well.

To give you a example of what you just did, lets go with boats (as I cant think of anything else ATM)

By downgradeing to java 6, you just stepped out on a leaky rowboat. It will get you from point A to point B fairly safely, but only till it floods and you are left in the middle of a lake.

Java 7 is the ocean liner of java, you will not have a single problem with it after installation (or atleast in my experence with it).

TL;DR: upgrade to java 7 ASAP

On another note, why in the name of notch do you expect tekkit to run smoothly under AVG?!

The moderators of this forums (who are completely separate from the development team) have a secret agenda to make sure players have more problems with the mods. That was they will need to moderate more posts, making more money. (Because they definitely don't do this for free! Who would want to deal with these kinds of people all the time for free?) Also they only target certain ones while leaving long time users able to use the program!

Probably uninstalling and reinstalling a newly-downloaded Java is all that's required to fix the bug. Going from 7 to 6 forces that reinstall same as if they followed the bloody directions to uninstall and reinstall an up-to-date Java.

You are quite definitely wrong. It took me going through 3 versions of java 7 until I got to Java 6. It seems that There may be trouble between the combination of the OS, Java, and the latest launcher. Everybody that seems to be having the Java 7 problem is possibly running a higher end version of Windows than Home. But this is purely speculation. Take it as you will.

I think I've worked out the base cause of this java 6/7 issue, and I'm suspecting spyware. Just had somebody fix it by removing something called 'RelevantKnowledge'. Looks like it's not being picked up by some virus scanners, so it's not even on the radar for most people.

I was thinking at work today. There's no way all of these people are having issues with Norton (almost all have had Norton) and have some program they don't know about. Bunches of red flags! So, everyone, perform some antivirus, spyware and other-malware scans :)
