Tekkit 3.1.2 download stops

Question

Posted

Launcher Version: 1.0.1.3

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Professional or whatever the home version is called these days

Java Version: 32-bit

Antivirus Program: McAfee

Description of Problem:

Every time I try, no matter how many times I add the launcher to the antivirus and firewall, the launcher seems unable to download equivalent exchange for tekkit, and only for tekkit. It will download to 20% and then stop, retry, and say "download failed." I have had this glitch repeatedly even when I have updated the launcher and added it to the lists for my firewalls to allow it through, and completely disabled McAfee on one occasion.

Error Messages:

None

Error Log:

Your Java is extremely out of date. Update that and see if it still throws the error out.

Actually no, he's running Java 6, the 1.6 or 1.7 is just how it shows up.

OP, I suggest a complete/clean reinstall:

Uninstall Java

Delete .techniclauncher

Uninstall McAfee

Restart computer

Download Avast (just as free, and works great, with little to no interferences with video gaming)

Reinstall Java (Java 7 is the recommended)

Turn off avast (just to make sure)

Download the launcher

Should work with a clean reinstall. If you wish to keep McAfee, know that sometimes it won't turn off all the way and can still stop downloads.

Sorry I was unable to get back to you sooner; my personal computer arrived. Same glitch here with a newer version of java and tekkit, and better security software. If I didn't mention it before, I'm using the launcher.jar but don't know if that makes a difference.
