Kian Coppard Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Hey guys how do u make a mod just wondering? Quote
LazDude2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 It involves reaching Level 3 of Java Wizardry. It also involves Space Magic (it's magic in space!) and Cheesemaking. When you've mastered these three skills, a government operative who's been monitoring your progress will report in. The head honchos at the CIA will then decide if you're an asset or a threat, and act accordingly. Quote
theprolo Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 It should also be noted that hacking life to up your Java Wizardy level can cause severe problems and potentially crash your life. If you manage to not crash, the CIA are likely to count you as a threat and arrest you. Remember, hacking life was made a crime punishable by a ban until the year 9999 in a secret government vote made in 1998, at the same time as cracking life was made illegal. Quote
Jorcer Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 While the dangers of hacking are very high, I managed to do so with only the minor side effect of Babification. Quote
ErusPrime Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 click This should get you started with the basics of creating simple mod structures like blocks and world generation. It helps to know java if you want to do more complex things. Quote
LazDude2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Erus, you're not supposed to actually *help* them! /_- Quote
ErusPrime Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Sorry. I'm a fan of people trying to educate themselves. Quote
LazDude2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Yeah, but he could (and should) have found his answers with a bit of searching. I mean, you could have at least linked him to LMGTFY, give him the message that google is his friend. :P Quote
ErusPrime Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 It's actually really hard to find zero level information on creating mods for minecraft. Quote
Jorcer Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 It's actually really hard to find zero level information on creating mods for minecraft. Not if you look at the stickys in this very section... Quote
ErusPrime Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I said zero level. The first two tuts are quite out of date and any questions can't be directed towards mDiyo as he's gone. After that it's advanced stuff which is probably not where someone would want to start. Someone on DW's SMPLP does live streams of their coding. That might be a good thing to check out. I don't remember who it was though. edit: I read through the advanced tutorials. Watch those videos to figure out how to set up a development environment and then use this guys tuts. They're really good and cover enough of the basics to get you started. Quote

ErusPrime Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 He is still updating them and answering questions on his thread. We need to hook that guy up with an IRC channel and a live stream. Quote
GreenWolf13 Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I would suggest using these two tutorials: http://wuppy29.blogspot.nl/2012/10/forge-modding.html http://www.minecraftforge.net/wiki/Category:Generic_Mod I would also check out the forge IRC channel at #minecraftforge on irc.esper.net Quote
LazDude2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 BTW, the ones who stream their coding are Pahimar and (I think) VSWE. Quote
