Help game keeps freezing

Hi I know that this game is very old but I still play and I got a bug every time I hit alt my game freezes and it only uses .01% cpu and I need help There is no crash log nothing I need to go into task manger to close it and Most of the time it locks my mouse in the game Thanks Please help
