Please note: If possible ask if you have permission to run a technic launcher modpack through the standard minecraft launcher as some modpack authors may not want you to as it does effect the analytics gathered for the pack and certainly don't edit and re-distribute your instance of the pack to others if you don't have permission.

Technics launcher is an easy and effective way of installing and updating modpacks.
However, on a rare occasion that you're having trouble with the Technic launcher or you wish to install a client mod that doesn't disappear everytime you update the pack. (For e.g. Journeymap)...
You can do the following depending on if you're able to launch/access the launcher.

You can run and access the launcher but the launcher/minecraft lags
- Open the Technic launcher. Click on your modpack and then click 'modpack options','open'. This should open the directory your modpack is saved. Copy and save the location of your modpack instance somewhere so you don't forget it. (Example directory. C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\.technic\modpacks\[modpack name])
- Go into /bin/version.json. Your minecraft forge version will be displayed here.
- Find your version of forge here: http://files.minecraftforge.net/ and install using the correct installer to your normal MC directory. (E.g. %appdata%/roaming...)
- Open the standard MC launcher and make a new instance in the normal MC launcher. (In the new windows launcher this is located under 'Launch options'). You should change the 'Game directory' to the Technic directory link you saved earlier and change 'Version' to the correct version of forge you wish to use.
Fin. Please note if the packs Forge version updates you will have to manually re-install forge and change the 'Version' to this newest version of forge

You can't access the launcher/packs won't update on the launcher (or) you wish to add client mods
Before you do anything you need to have access to the latest version of the modpack. If you're having trouble running a custom modpack you can usually contact the modpack author and they will have the direct download link. I don't know what you would do for Technic packs (need to ask the Technic staff).
Although this doesn't benefit Technic please note if you're really having trouble you may find your pack on a different launcher. (Won't advertise any here but you probably know them).

- Download and extract the .zip file. Copy and save the location of the directory of the modpack you just extracted somewhere so you don't forget it.
(Example directory. C:\Users\[username]\Desktop\[Modpack name])
You should change the 'Game directory' to the directory link you saved earlier and change 'Version' to the correct version of forge you wish to use.
- Fin.
Please note if the packs Forge version updates you will have to manually re-install forge and change the 'Version' to this newest version of forge.
Also note that you will have to re-download the lastest .zip file everytime the modpack updates and update the mods + config folders).

- For client mods simply follow the same steps (above) but add the desires mod(s) in the 'mods' folder. Make sure you have permission from both the mod author and modpack author to add this to the pack.
