needhelp An error occurred while attempting to reach authserver.mojang.com

Whenever I try to sign in it says: "An error occurred while attempting to reach authserver.mojang.com"

So I did a bit of googling and came up on a old forum post from 2015. So I followed those steps and it still doesn't work please help me!

Are you on windows? Put the following file in your response: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts. I need the hosts file to check for something. You can check the file yourself with notepad, see if there's any mention of "authserver.mojang.com".
