Mystcraft SMP not working.

Hey there. My group runs a Tekkit Lite SMP server. It's been going great so far and I applaud the mod authors as much as the mod packers (for their choice of mods).

Now, the problem is, Mystcraft doesn't seem to be enabled. When any of us try to go and make a book, it will make it, but before we can do anything with it, it will refund itself. That is to say, whatever it was made out of it will go back into the crafting slot and the book will disappear. It does, however, work fine on SSP. We run ForgeEssentials so I was wondering if that could possibly be disabling it? We've had a look through the cfgs and can't find anything that wouldn't allow us to use it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure the server actually has Mystcraft installed, and actually enabled. Check the config to see if you didn't accidentally disable all the items.

Yes to both of those. We have them installed and, as I said, we looked through all the cfg files and everything is enabled.

Try to make someone operator or disable Forge Essentials Protection, see if you can make one then. Perhaps the server has disabled Mystcraft due to lag issues, and has done so by disallowing crafting of the books.

Poke around a bit in the Forge Essentials configs and see if you can find anything. Try Protection.cfg and banneditems.cfg first.

Already had a look there and through all the cfgs we have on the server. Will try disabling Essentials, though. Thanks for that.

Didn't work. It doesn't seem a CFG issue anywhere. Like I said we've checked all the cfgs and nothing's wrong in them as far as we can tell, unless theres some secret value somewhere that we need to turn on (other than in the mystcraft cfg file).

We're sure it loads on the loader, since it works in SSP. We can add all the mystcraft items, but for SMP you can make the item, then a second alter it will revert back to it's materials, so we can't do anything with them.

Seems like a mod is still somehow disallowing crafting. Try completely removing the ForgeEssentials mod from your mods folder temporarily.

Alright, we'll try that. How do you know that it's forge essentials, by the way?

Forge Essentials is the only one which is likely to be editing or blocking other mods from crafting. You could also check out the Mystcraft cfg, but I don't know what you'd look for.

We disabled Forge Essentials and it crashed our server. Bringing it back up now and updating it to 1.4.7.

I read up on Mystcraft, and it seems this exact problem happens when the client and server item ID's for the Mystcraft books don't match up.

Cannot Craft Books

There are two common reasons for this:

• You have an item id conflict.
  
• Your item ids are not synched between client and server.
  

Check both the client and server configs and see if the ID's actually match.

Ah! There we go! Thank you very much, Teraku. I must of missed that. I went over the Mystcraft thread and somehow missed that. It's all sorted now, thanks a lot and sorry for wasting your time on this, but hopefully it can help others if this issue arises again.
