ALbrick12345
Hello, Now as you may guess I'm rather new around here, although for the past year or so I have been playing Minecraft/Tekkit on a crappy little laptop, around 10-20fps, horrible horrible stuff, anyway, I'm currently in the process of buying a PC, I have the money, and I know which one I am purchasing, But what I wish to know is will it run Tekkit well, and if so, around what FPS will it achieve? I won't be recording while playing or any of that business either, so here are the specs. Xigmatek Asgard Pro Case Intel Core i5 3570K Processor overclocked to up to 4.5GHz Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Cooler Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard with USB 3.0 -B3 Revision 8GB PC3-10666 DDR3 Memory NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 1GB Graphics Card 1000GB SATA 7200rpm Hard Disk Sony DVD-RW 24x Drive 500watt Xigmatek PSU Onboard High Definition Audio Help? theprolo
If you get your Nvidia card to run on Java (only necessary on a computer with integrated graphics, otherwise it's done already), you should have absolutely no problem with Tekkit on that computer. I have a laptop with a non-overclocked I5 core and worse graphics card, and I usually run at around 120FPS. I've successfully ran a server and played on the same computer with over a hundred mods installed with no lag, so I think it's safe to say that your computer will be able to handle without much trouble. freakachu
that PC should be able to basically crush minecraft, hardware wise. you may still get some times when you're <60 FPS, but that is because minecraft is coded like ass and not because your rig sucks. most likely you will never notice any frame rate issues unless the most ridiculous stuff is going on at the time, like setting off 50 nukes or something like that. freakachu
Thank You Very Much, Great Help! But you said get my Nvidia card to run on Java? Could there be a problem? that is a desktop so what he is talking about does not apply. on laptops, they tend to try and use the integrated graphics on the CPU as much as possible to save power. minecraft does not do whatever it takes to make many laptops think it's a real for sure 3D application and so it doesn't try to use the real graphics card to render it. the result is crappy FPS for seemingly no reason, even though other games that are much more graphically advanced run fine. you should get 60+ easily, 100+ is also likely a fair amount of the time
miniboxer
Am I the only one who turn on VSync because I don't want my graphics card to spontaneously combust? If you don't have an amazing card or one that has even slight problems with overheating if the inside of your case gets really hot, you can fry cards when running games at FPS of above 150. I have not heard of this problem with minecraft specifically, but I have heard of several other games that disabling VSync can cause some problems, but just in case, I do not want to cause a new graphics card to become a fancy modern art paperweight. elmarko98
What would you guys rate this? Manufacturer: Zoostorm Processor: Intel Core i3 RAM: 6GB Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1024MB (it's also 3D and has a picture of a frog on it, you can see why I chose it ^^) I am eventually going to build my own PC (a good one too) but for now this'll do but I think I'll get an i5

elmarko98
Yeah it can play most games on full graphics with music in the background. I'm definitely going to get an i5 though or at least a processor of that level
