Whats with all the tech?

All these modpacks are all about technology. Where are the outside of the box modpacks? Seriously guys. There are way more mods than just IC2 and Buildcraft.

Agreed. If you're okay with making it a private (hidden) pack, you could use Mystcraft (the modder requests that his mod only be used in public modpacks with his specific permission). Mystcraft is pretty darn awesome.

I suggest the Magician's Cookbook pack. It doesn't have any technology mods at all. It's just Magic and Magi-punk (to use Azanor's description of his mod.) It's also like the 8th highest rated pack on the platform.

Yeah i tried it out. Dang 8th place. My modpack is the 2nd one on the 4th page. At least its kind of up there.

The system is new so don't expect a good indication of a modpack's actual popularity. Right now you've got the early adopters rushing to vote up their favorite modpack, but as time goes by people will sample the other packs and opinions will shift.

There's a good chance the most popular modpack the the (future)history of minecraft will be made by a guy/girl who hasn't even considered the played yet.
