My is client out of date

I have downloaded then newest launcher from the website, i have updated it and so on and when i try to access a server that iv been on for a few months it says my client is out od date, i need to be using minecraft 1.5 but the client comes with 1.4.7 how do i upadate it?

Well...you don't. Tekkit Lite hasn't been updated to 1.5, on account of the entire pack contents not being updated to 1.5

Then either your friend is running a Vanilla server and you should use Vanilla Minecraft not Tekkit Lite or he made a custom pack on 1.5

Contact him and find out, if it's a custom pack get a Platform link off of him (assuming he put the pack on Platform)

When I try to join a server it says 1.5.2 and it says client is out of date when I hover my mouse icon over it.
