How to install Optifine?

I installed Optifine by dragging the files into modpack.jar, just as I did on my Tekkit Lite installation, however it didn't work. It didn't crash, but it didn't show up as installed either. I got version 1.5.1_L_B1. Thanks in advance.

I haven't tried 1.5.1_L_B1, but myself and several others have had success with 1.5.1_HD_D1. Maybe try that and see if it works.

I downloaded 1.5.1 HD U D1 and it worked. I ended up uninstalling it because it felt slower, and CC monitors glitch a little. Go figure. Either way, thanks a lot you two.

I saw 30FPS with Optifine, now I'm seeing 130 without it. No wonder it felt slower.
