Gregtech mod causing redpower to throw NullPointerExceptions?

Howdy; I'm trying to migrate my custom FTB Ultimate pack to the launcher (so that I can easily deploy changes to my server without having to give users a 6 week introductory course on how to update their configs) and it seems gregtech is causing some NullPointerExceptions. Removing gregtech causes the pack to launch just fine but that's kinda not an option since quite a bit of those machines and items are in use on the server. Anyway to get this thing working? Guess I should mention that this is for 1.4.7.

Yeah I saw that on another thread and changing where the launcher saves modpacks allows the thing pack to run. Wow. I'm going to try and get that code that's in that mod edited so it'll launch without having to do the extra steps as the whole point of the migration is to make the process as simple as possible my players.

My opinion on the mod had been neutral; up until this point, I could blame all the problems I've had with Gregtech with the idiotic configs FTB ships with. I swear, the biggest thing holding back the modding community is the mod authors own arrogance and self importants-putting code in your mod that prevents the default setting in a launcher from running-a launcher that just so happens to be the only solution that makes it easy for both server admins and players alike to play together- is multiple levels of asinine. I'd love to remove it on principle, and Redpower while I was at it, but I'm not going to punish my players just because a few people can't seem to do what's right for the community rather than for their own ego.

Sorry for that little rant; my solution is going to be to set the check to false but I'll have to stop being lazy and actually download Eclipse to do so. Thanks for the help though!

The config option does nothing. It is there because the creator of the mod is an asshole. You will have to decompile gt_mod.class and remove the check yourself, which isn't too hard.

Very easy solution for this. When you go into the platform page of your pack, edit it and check the box marked "Force directory change". This will have the user select another folder to install the pack in thus fooling the gregtech code into thinking its just being installed into a misc. folder.
