Vas Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I have this about a million times in my log. I noticed it because my server suddenly stopped working without any errors anywhere at all in any of the forge or server logs. So I'm about to cancel my hosting with the provider once I test a previously working backup. Here's what I mean by the odd thing I get in my logs: 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 3d5bfa7c (world) may have leaked: seen 6295 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 3e9c594c (world) may have leaked: seen 6550 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 693f8c10 (world) may have leaked: seen 6455 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 683cc01f (world) may have leaked: seen 6555 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 1c85a715 (world) may have leaked: seen 1680 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 27a62569 (world) may have leaked: seen 6555 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 2d7b6911 (world) may have leaked: seen 6475 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 9de3210 (world) may have leaked: seen 6420 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 30fb0844 (world) may have leaked: seen 6370 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 2dbe8e2b (world) may have leaked: seen 6480 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 79c17dcd (world) may have leaked: seen 840 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 78799331 (world) may have leaked: seen 6445 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 3ca537f9 (world) may have leaked: seen 6330 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 3db55395 (world) may have leaked: seen 1710 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 4f586404 (world) may have leaked: seen 6420 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 646cf858 (world) may have leaked: seen 6310 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:03 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 2889dd (world) may have leaked: seen 6325 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 36bd8cac (world) may have leaked: seen 3955 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 45a8773b (world) may have leaked: seen 9625 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 21133cb9 (world) may have leaked: seen 3755 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 59fd6512 (world) may have leaked: seen 6330 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 342638ae (world) may have leaked: seen 1555 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world a23519d (world) may have leaked: seen 6410 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 4b2f9def (world) may have leaked: seen 6495 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 19a15004 (world) may have leaked: seen 6415 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 1cd1e5d8 (world) may have leaked: seen 6440 times. 2013-06-02 11:54:13 [FINE] [ForgeModLoader] The world 49cc4a9a (world) may have leaked: seen 6310 times. What's it mean? This isn't a bug report or a support thread. I just wanna know what the above things mean and why there's a million of them in my log.
Feekkee Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Make an backup. Then try to delete some of dimensional doors worlds in your save folder to start with.
Vas Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Make an backup. Then try to delete some of dimensional doors worlds in your save folder to start with. But what's it mean by leaked?
Teraku Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 It means that Dimensional Doors is a bit buggy at the moment. No idea what they mean with "leaked", though.
Magister Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 forge added a way to detect a leaking world awhile back, basicly it is something that has refused to unload and is just hanging, they can eat up server memory over time and is generally caused by a improper code somewhere according to forge. personaly i have seen it happen more with chicken chunks than with anything else.
Vas Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 So does forge clean up the leaks? I have a chunk loader under my space station set to load the entire station (about 50 chunks) and so far nothing seems to be going wrong with my server.
Shoe Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I have a funny feeling that the last time I was flicking through the /help menu on my server there was a command from DimDoors called something like "prune dimensions". If the problem is DimDoors and if that command does what it sounds like it might be worth a try? Just make sure you've got a backup...
Teraku Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I think it just cleans up all dimensional dungeons that haven't been visited for a while.
Shoe Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Yeah, so if Magister is right and the problem is dimensions which won't unload then pruning old DimDoor dimensions might remove any which are problematic. Worst comes to worst Vas will just lose a load of old dungeons they havent visited in a while.
Magister Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 the leaks are not that big of a problem but the more you have the more often you might need to restart your server, it seems to cause the GC threads to crash the server more often from what i have experienced, purging old unused dimensions does help reduce the number of leaks.
Vas Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 So would this be why my server becomes unusable every so often? I had a massive amount of problems and eventually I had to delete the entire server and start from scratch. This is a massive issue if this is the cause.
Magister Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 generally it is related to a mod that does chunk loading, so removing the chunk loading mod tends to help, or keep the amount of dimensions to a lower number helps the server as well. also doing regular server restarts is a good idea if you have this issue and you can estimate when to restart based on when the server starts to become unstable. also you can try to adjust the memory allocated to the server either up or down to try and adjust for stability, just keep in mind that the more ram you allocate the more resources the GC threads will use and it can also lead to them crashing more often.
