What's with these plants?

There are several glowy plant like looking things that as soon as my reticule gets on them they disappear. I learned one of them in the overworld is called "glowcaps" but they're also in the twilight forest.

As no one knows the origin, what I do know is that you can harvest them with a pair of shears and place them where you desire. If you harvest them with anything else, you will get one piece of glowstone dust. Still not sure of whether they grow or not.

I think those are just part of Wild Caves, nothing special.

No I thought glowcaps grew 2 blocks tall thats just not fully grown. Or can they only be generated?

I read somewhere that there is a bug with NEI's highlight tip option that causes some plants to disappear when you look at them. This may be the cause of the visual issue.

I've been using shears to clip them down and I get glowstone out of them. Use shears on the glowcaps (green mushroom looking things)to put them in your bag and replant them elsewhere. I haven't figured out another use for them though, like it they are ingredients for something else.
