cobaltwarrior19 Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I keep running out of memory 5-10 minutes into the game. It even does it while paused. This last time, I paused, stepped away to cook breakfast and when I came back it was crashed. Anyway I can stop this?
theprolo Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Have you increased PermGen? If not, turn that option on in the Technic Launcher options (gear on the top right in the launcher).
cobaltwarrior19 Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 I have. It goes no higher than 1GB for me.
theprolo Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Do you have a 32bit computer/OS? If not, download 64bit Java. Assuming you actually have more than 1GB of RAM.
cobaltwarrior19 Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 I'm using a 32 bit OS. And I have 3GB of usable RAM
theprolo Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 If you've increased PermGen (that's a separate option to the RAM by the way - make sure you have that checked), and have 32bit OS, then there's not much you can do about it. You've basically maxed out the amount of memory you can use on that computer.
cobaltwarrior19 Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 But I wasn't having this problem until today, and I've been playing Hexxit since it launched
theprolo Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Some things in the world can take up more memory than others. You could try saving and reloading every now and then to keep the number of chunks stored in memory down. It could also be that you generated a resource-intensive dungeon nearby which is eating up memory - it might be worth backtracking a bit.
Sleaker Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I'm using a 32 bit OS. And I have 3GB of usable RAM 32bit java is going to max at a total of 1.5g. If you need to use more memory for hexxit its time to upgrade to a 64bit OS and java.

lmwolfe19 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 You do not have to buy a whole new computer, just a new OS. They sell for about $90-120.
Dash16 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 You do not have to buy a whole new computer, just a new OS. They sell for about $90-120. Not necessarily. If OPs computer doesn't have a 64-bit CPU, then buying a 64-bit OS isn't going to do him any good.
Vivacity Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Lol, out of the question. I have a 32 Bit computer and buying a new one is beyond my financial reach. Post your specs. And You don't necessarily have to buy a 64 bit os Linux is completely free
