Darkbirde
Hey guys! I love this modpack, but I have a few questions/concerns for discussion if anyone wants to talk. I'm not here to flame, or bait people; the pack is great. 1) Can we get a magic mod added to this pack? I was running my server with Ars Magica (stable, for a week or so; 1.0.4 came out and for some reason now my server crashes constantly with Ars installed, and I had to remove it. This made me really, really sad as I feel that Ars Magica fit into Hexxit so well. This leads me to my next concern: 2) Fast travel. Ars Magica afforded me gateways and nexuses and keystones and such to basically build a system to travel around the world faster in. It was difficult to comprehend, but that was the cool part. Is there any way to do something similar in hexxit without Ars? 3) Has anyone found any alternatives to Ars Magica that might work? I saw something called Thaumcraft but I am hesitant to try it until the build becomes more stable, due to having lost hours and hours of work in Ars when I had to remove it. 4) The tool station. Is this borked for anyone else since 1.0.4? It no longer functions 99% of the time [stone seems to work; all other materials are broken.] These problems are really gettin' me down. I love the aesthetic of Hexxit and i love the really populated world full of insane stuff. I just am not sure how long I can keep myself interested without a way to get to and from my base faster, and Ars gateways were my solution until it broke. dwwojcik
4) The tool station. Is this borked for anyone else since 1.0.4? It no longer functions 99% of the time [stone seems to work; all other materials are broken.] Nope, Not broken. Feature. To make metal parts you now need to pour them in a Smeltery. As for your travelling, I would suggest rails in the nether, like in vanilla. Thaumcraft is good (Used to be in the Technic SSP pack, and the FTBers swear by it) but is very different. Joker2040
2) http://wiki.technicpack.net/Rift_Signature "The Rift Signature is a tool provided by the Dimensional Doors mod to create permanent Overworld teleports using Rifts." 3) Hexxit has several magic systems. Soul magic, blood magic, enchanting plus, ice/heal/etc. staff/potion/arrows, more? 4) Use the smeltery for metals. You may need to place a tool part on a casting table and pour aluminum brass on it to make each casting template.
Darkbirde
You two are fucking awesome. Seriously. I'm going to drop Ars Magica and give Thaumcraft a try, but I don't even need that 100% because of Joker's recommendation for Rift Signatures. Thank you both SO much! Joker2040
Check out Legend Gear. Magic Boomerang to grab blaze rods near a blaze spawner. Mystic Shrubs (Zelda grass) for emerald shards, hearts and arrows. During thunderstorms you can get stuff like bombs to make bomb bags from charged shrubs. Twilight Forest doubles the amount of stuff that is nearby. Listen for dungeons hidden underground.
Darkbirde
I got Thaumcraft in, and Ars Magica out. Even followed the nice info on how to regen a world that is already created in order to include Thaumcraft nodes. All is well now. Thanks again so much for the info on all my issues. You guys are very helpful and friendly, and I was not expecting to get any help
