Adm.Venge Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I am having a hard time finding information about some content in Better Dungeons. I wanted to ask someone who might extensive experience playing the mod. I did 168 hours and conquered 71 towers' date=' Nether cities and castles[/quote'] That is certainly more experience then I have. Where can you find the Turtle Boss? Where can you find the Monking? Have you found the "magic pickaxe" from Better Dungeons? Where do you find it if you have? What does it do? Quote
David_Wolfe Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Well, there's not an exact location but: You can find the turtle boss in Twilight Forest's underground with large areas. Then again, you can probably find it anywhere underground as long as it's big enough. Try looking around caves or mineshafts. The monking shows up in forest (and I suppose jungle?) biomes, but that's really all I can say. I did stumble onto a magic pickaxe by accident in one of the fortresses I think? Then again, I wasn't paying attention. All it does is just dig insanely fast. Quote
koro Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I've also found the Turtle Boss twice in the Overworld as well, both in the same Glacier biome. The first was just kind of sitting around on an ice lake, and the second was in the "secret" water-filled room in one of the Better Dungeons walker castles, the kind with the huge brick-topped structure in the middle surrounded by keep walls. swamiwammiloo Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Turtle boss will generate inside of large underground lakes such as this, in and around a random spot of that biome, but with a more artifical placing to it. Example lake is , or alone in the generate pattern you can grab from NEI and generate yourself. They also generate behind and within the secret room behind the two tall bookcase in the Walker Castle that is extremely square looking. Monking will generate much like Strongholds and can only be found 3 times per world, at the moment, within a random spot of any jungle biome, in the same radius as the Strongholds will generate. It drops the Monking Bigsword and the Magic Pickaxe, at a rare chance for the Magic Pickaxe. The Magic Pickaxe can also be randomly found at an extremely rare chance, much like being dropped by the Monking, in chests generated in the boss loot tables for the end of every dungeon. The Magic Pickaxe has infinite durability, and will mine, dig, and chop faster then an efficiency V Diamond Pickaxe, Diamond Axe, and Diamond Shovel. When you right click using the magic pickaxe, it acts like the Destruction Catalyst, but instead of taking out a 3x3x3 area, it will take out only a 3x3 area, which uses durability. Quote
David_Wolfe Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Has anyone actually used any of the BD loot so far? I mean, the magic pickaxe and such are nice and all, but I find that they are generally outclassed by final tier TConstruct items. Besides, the monking sword doesn't seem to be all that special and especially the dwarven spear is a bit of a (complete) lackluster. Quote
Adm.Venge Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Thanks for the information. Has anyone actually used any of the BD loot so far? I mean, the magic pickaxe and such are nice and all, but I find that they are generally outclassed by final tier TConstruct items. Besides, the monking sword doesn't seem to be all that special and especially the dwarven spear is a bit of a (complete) lackluster. I would definitely use the Magic Pickaxe if i found it. Sounds like the ultimate builder's tool, though you probably want something with Silk Touch/Fortune for adventuring. I use the Ender Sword (dropped by the Walker Boss). It's teleport power is nice in the Mazes in the Twilight Forest and for the Dark Tower (Ur-ghast lair). I dont use it in combat though. I also use the Spiderhook in those same areas. Oh and Golden Feathers. Alot of my players also use the Cloud Boots, the Quiver and Essence Arrows. The Ninja Knife (dropped by the Pirate Boss) is supposed to do "alot" of damage if you "backstab" with it, but I never tried it. The Scouter seems redundant since the modpack includes the Damage Indicators mod. Quote
