Deluxe Server Opinion

I want to start this thread off right by saying: my intentions are to get an opinion of others to critique my post/server to meet/exceed the expectations of a deluxe server.

I've been putting in a lot of time and effort to make my (custom) server not only deluxe worthy, but simply a deluxe!

If you don't know what I'm talking about, the forum category: Servers has a section for different types of servers. The sub-category I'm interested in and talking about is the Deluxe Servers. The post rules specifically state you aren't supposed to ask for deluxe, and with that in mind, I want players (staff would be nice too) to review my custom server post and see what needs to be done to make my server deluxe.

I know some of you will think this is me being desperate for advertising... you are not incorrect, but this post is being made without the intention of being desperate. I, as well as many others have spent a long time developing this particular server and I would like to see that time we dedicated in action. I feel that becoming a "Deluxe Sever" will more than suffice for the traffic we desire.

With all this in mind, and your opinion valued: Does this server resemble that of a deluxe server?

Thank you - I'm sure the servers there are great but some more selection would be fantastic.

I've been attempting to throw all of my effort at this. I hope my server can be some of that "new blood".

It would be nice to see some new servers on the deluxe server list, I've been trying to get on there myself. ;)

Yeah I know this thread is a bit old, but rather than starting a new one I'm posting here.

I'd suggest that a few of the servers in this section need to be culled. While trying to figure out what we'd need to do to get into this section for our server I visited the websites and servers of a few of them. I certainly don't know what they have done special to gain this section I certainly wouldn't call them deluxe. They seem to have completely out of date recruitment threads, be either down or empty a lot of the time and certainly not running a very unique modpack. Maybe they deserved the status in the past, but I personally don't feel they deserve it now. We'd love to get in there, as from my investigations they do get a large flow of new players coming to their servers.

My suggestion however is to remove this section completely. There doesn't seem to be a system or desire to maintain any sort of quality control for this section so I say let everyone duke it out in the main threads. If your server is really deluxe you should be able to stay on front page and draw in players. Also means you need to keep your post up to date and keep improving to draw in new players.

There's a problem with that system though, many servers apply whitelists and require their players to post a little application to join. Every time someone posts an application, the thread gets bumped to the top of the list.

This is a bit of an unfair advantage against servers that don't have a whitelist (like mine).

But I do agree with you, the system can be improved.
