xxmikegigsxx Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Is there anything that can transport IC energy. I want to get power form my nuclear reactor to my house. My reactor isn't close to my house (maybe 200 blocks) because I don't want it destroying my house. So is there anything, not wire, that can get the energy from the reactor to my house?

If you're really against running wire and setting up several power relays along the way to reduce EU loss, try this: Edit (this): http://railcraft.wikispaces.com/Energy+Cart+%28Cart%29 There may be other ways, but if it stays loaded, it might just work. I'm not a pro at railcraft and I haven't had a chance to test this when used for retrieving power from fro away but it's an idea.
eoden13 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Hey we use the BC wireless energy pipes. You can use the Energy link from the Power Crystals (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/554413-100smp-pcs-mods-minefactory-reloaded-power-converters-and-more-updated-dec-19th/) mod set. so basically... take your reactor power... connect it to the Energy link through whatever cable you want. the energy link will except any output. then on the other side of the energy link hook up a wooden conductive pipe to a gold conductive pipe to the wireless energy pipe from the additional pipes mod (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/856360-123bc2213-bc314rev201rev301-buildcraft-teleport-pipes/). then go over over to your house... connect the wireless energy pipe up to a wooden conductive pipe to a gold conductive pipe to a LV MV or HV Engine Generator from the power crystals mod set. Then from there you can connect whatever kind of IC2 power cable you need to whatever machines you want to hook up or MFSU/MFE/bat box, etc. You might need to put a chunk loader at both ends for it to work correctly. we have a pretty cool reactor and wind farm generator setup on our server and we take advantage of these. Hope that helps.
Chezzik Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 You might need to put a chunk loader at both ends for it to work correctly. I thought that chunk loaders were SSP-only. Was I told this incorrectly?
xxmikegigsxx Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 *Edit: It works fine now except, I get damaged when ever I get close to the cables.
Yuriy Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 *Edit: It works fine now except, I get damaged when ever I get close to the cables. If they're not insulated, you will.
Torezu Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Single insulation will still damage you, just not as much. Triple insulation is needed to minimize (remove?) damage from live cables.
xxmikegigsxx Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 How do you "triple" insulate?
Torezu Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 http://wiki.industrial-craft.net/index.php?title=Recipes_and_Resources#Cables Apply additional layers of insulation to existing cable. Multiple crafting recipes apply (3 separate rubber with a cable, 2 rubber with an insulated cable, 1 rubber with a double-insulated cable), or you can use a wire cutter/pliers (further down in the crafting list). Careful - uninsulated HV cable with a high enough voltage can kill on contact, or so I've been told.
MechaCrash Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 It is worth noting that using an energy link and teleport pipes is pretty lossy. You lose 10% right away because of the wooden pipe (a bug in the BC 2.X branch, which I hear is fixed in the 3.X branch, not that it helps), and you lose 0.05% of your energy per block of distance with the teleport pipes, I think. Note that the energy loss over distance for teleport pipes can be configured, but that's what it is out of the box. Another option that's pretty slow but has perfect efficiency is to hook up a lava generator at your power plant, then use liquid teleport pipes to send that power to your base, where you can then feed the lava into geothermal generators.
