Username not working

Just bought Minecraft and downloaded tekkit launcher

when I try to log in it tells me that my username/password combo is wrong when I know it isn't (tried doing it with a new password)

n.b. using windows 8.1

It comes up with "ForbiddenOperationException", saying Invalid Credentials. Invalid username and password.

Try to log in through Mojang's own launcher, that's the only way to know whether you are using the correct username/password

also keep in mind that your username will actually be your email address that you used to create your minecraft account.

That's unless you're one of those fortunate few that can still use their IGN for login because they never converted their account.

It's both a blessing and a curse. I broke the launcher once because my account was legacy. (Minecraft auth servers kept sending "null" instead of a response.)

Nah.  It's not really a bug.  More like a feature.

I was worried that I was gonna get slapped for this sooner or later. I've used my ign to log in all the time... I was wondering if the launcher was gonna go "nu-uh dude! Use your email!"

I did that. And i regret the hell out of it. There's no way to undo it either (And it wants personal information, So smeg that)
