Missing Bukkit plugins?

I just installed the 1.2.6 version of Tekkit on my server, and I noticed there was no plugins folder.  Thinking that was odd, I created the folder and proceeded to install the plugins I had on my 1.1.10 server.  Watching the server while it boots, I see it gets to 'loading plugins' and then 'done loading plugins' without actually loading anything.  Are bukkit plugins still supported?  Where should I install them, if so?

In order to use Bukkit plugins you need to use something like MCPC+ in place of the Tekkit jar file you normally start.
