I had this same problem make sure you have the current version of 64 bit Java.

 

Newest 64 bit Java

yeah, you'll want to find your log file to see why it shut down; on my crappy laptop this happened because my video card just couldn't handle it (didn't have the proper OpenGL or something).  Sometimes it just means you're out of luck.

yea i have the same problem, when i know its happening, right after its loading it loads a bunch of random numbers and letters, disappears, the Shuts down and brings me back to the launcher. It worked before, probably cuz of the 64 bit but i have been using 32 bit and it worked fine, (except for the occasional Lag/not responding when it starts the loading screen).
