Unable to authenticate account with Minecraft.net

I just downloaded the Technic launcher. Haven't touched Minecraft in weeks but did a Force Update on it and launched Minecraft fine (including logging in to the Minecraft.net servers).

When I try to Login with the Technic Launcher I repeatedly get "Unable to authenticate account with Minecraft.net"

Minecraft lets me do it just fine, but not the Technic Launcher.

Any advice? (I'm on OS X, with OpenJDK 7 and all system updates installed)

I'm noticing that there a lot of posts about this issue. Most of them seem to be related to Windows and people talk about Firewalls or Virus scanners.

I should note that I am definitely on OS X and I have no virus scanner or Firewall running (excluding the one on the router) but I can get to minecraft.net fine as a website or when logging in with vanilla Minecraft.

Soo.....I don't think those are the issues.

Odd thing happened.

I went and got a version of the Launcher from the Yogscast site, version 0.5.4.9 (I think) and it connected fine. Then after it connected suddenly the 1.0.xxx version Launcher works.

So that was odd.

aaaand.....it's now back to the same problem after it was working.

Again, I can definitely use vanilla minecraft and log in via minecraft.net, but NOT when using the Technic Pack (it worked a total of 1 time)

quad posting isn't helping you much. your issue sounds very much like a firewall problem. I know you are running OSX though and I know little about what firewalls come with/are available for macs. I would definitely come at it from the firewall angle though. something is blocking network traffic for that specific program.

Was attempting to provide more information.

The issue is not with my machine Firewall as it is turned off.

I suppose it could possibly be with the router Firewall that is provided by AT&T but to be honest, if regular Minecraft can log in and Technic can't, I think the problem is not a Firewall issue.

Not necessarily. If it sees the call coming from a different program, that could potentially set off red flags.

I doubt that's your problem, just dispelling some misinformation.

Have you tried completely clearing all of your technic stuff and redownloading?

Well first off, completely uninstall Java 6. Technic doesn't like it when both Java 6 and 7 are installed together.

I uninstalled Java 6 but I'm still unable to connect using either launcher (technic or vanilla).

I am having the exact same issue with mine... i get the "cannot authenticate with minecraft.net" every time and nothing works i havent been able to play ever since i downloaded it 4 days ago and nothing is working. only once did i get it to play but then i got a blank screen. that was the best result i got. but now i cant do anything once again. please help.

P.S. i did check the firewall and i disabled botht he router and my comp firewall and it still dosent work.

I was getting this error earlier, so I tried logging in with the vanilla launcher, which told me my account had been migrated and I needed to log in with my email address. I tried my email with Technic, and it's working now.

problem is for me that i cant login at all even on the vanilla... when i try logging in on any of them it says the exact same thing every time. iv tried updating my java,graphics,video,audio cards and even tried disabling the firewall on BOTH the computer AND the router. and nothing works and i tried it on my friends computer and it works just fine and he has the same stuff i have (graphics,video,audio,java,and firewall)

If you can't even log in with vanilla, then it's not a technic issue.

I doubt re-installing a modpack's going to fix you being unable to authenticate with Minecraft.net.
