Recently on my survival world i decided to revert to steam power using charcoal and when i set up my tree farm like i have on FTB the planter would work fine but the harvester wouldn't harvest. The idle isn't going down but its got power. Please help any suggestions are appreciated.

Sometimes they can clog too which can cause this, I like to put a chest behind it and pull out of that rather than put a pipe directly on the harvester, it acts as a buffer which prevents that problem from happening.

One thing to be aware of is the actual direction the harvester is pointing. Make sure the small hole is facing away from the area you are trying to harvest. You can change it with the crescent hammer.

it has no redstone signal and its pointing the correct way, however it doesn't have a chest behind it just a itemduct. If you read i played FTB i know what I'm doing it just doesn't work on attack of the b-team.

There are some trees it may not recognize properly (Slimy trees for example) - what trees isnt it recognizing? And did you check with a precision sledgehammer to see if the tree is in its radius?

it works with a duct the problem is it won't harvest it outputs fine it just won't harvest the trees.

This is exactly what it does if the duct clogs, for the record, you shouldn't rule it out just on that (if the duct clogs it chops one tree, some goes into the duct, then it jams and stops doing anything.  The idle timer bounces at the bottom).
