Even I can't remember... haha. I remember playing it back in Beta 1.7.3 (no hunger bars yet), but i'm sure it was created earlier.

Does anyone know when it was first released (back in the days with the old launcher) and what MC version it was?

Wasn't exactly the answer I was looking for jakj. :P

i think it's because you "bump". Don't do that. Anyone that has a correct answer will reply.

The post that contained the seed of Technic was made on 09 August 2011:

Hey modding thread.

I'd like to point out a few mods that fundamentally change the way YOU play minecraft!

I am of course talking about:

BuildCraft, the automatic mining, automatic factory-item-building supermod! Eventually you'll have more cobble than even the most determined miner! Build engines then power them (by oil in the beta 2.0 version)! Pipe and auto-sort resources! It's like having access to a build-your-own air pressure tube system they have at banks!

RedPower is the mod that makes redstone like it should be. Comes with redstone wire, which has a somewhat-steep cost but is far better than vanilla redstone (put it on walls, ceilings, hide it behind the included panels) Intergrated redstone circuitry (complex timers/clocks/relays in a single block (with very high materials cost so it's balanced). Integrated light blocks for actual lantern-like blocks for just lighting or fancy displays. This is the mod I think should be folded into default minecraft, I simply can not play without redstone wire anymore.

This last mod set, IndustrialCraft, is kind of janky and even beyond moving minecraft in a non-minecraft direction (mainly the sprite work and some obviously sloppy coding) and eating all the free sprites there ever were, its still pretty amazing. It adds complex machinery and electricity. So, right now on my server, we have a nuclear reactor running (in an obsidian + water-filled sarcophagus) running powering our giant rats nest of wire and metal we call our machine shop. Electric furnaces, transformers, ore shredders, a canning machine, compressors, you name it it's probably in this mod and it probably has a use.

When you combine all these mods together you get some serious much-needed life into minecraft, especially because the mods I listed are all SMP compatible. Make nuclear reactors, with FRIENDS (and then get pissed because they drained all the power in the recycler taking down your entire shop because they forgot to flip the correct set of switches :argh:) We've got a tiny, tiny server running with just a few friends and the fun is amazing! Check out the mods!

The first actual 'release' was a month later, on 05 September 2011. It was a .rar file that you had to open and drag the contents into the minecraft.jar, just like all the sad and pathetic people on the minecraft forums have to do because they hate 'ease of use' and 'accessibility'. You even had to delete META-INF yourself!

The first 'Launcher' release was a further month later, on 01 October 2011. The Launcher was the old Yogbox launcher with the serial numbers filed off. It is the first version of Technic that did not include Better Than Wolves, after the discovery that you could not disable it without causing gamebreaking crashes (the core code for fire was modified by BTW, so if it was removed manually lightning would crash the game). I'm the one that posted the bug report about it and Power Crystals was the one to figure out exactly why I was crashing.

The first multiplayer release (then called Technic MP as it was not ported to Bukkit) was on 27 October 2011.

Tekkit was released on 31 December 2011. Remember that all of these mods had to be installed on separate minecraft directories that you had to either make yourself or rely on something like the Minecraft Profile Manager in order to use.

The Technic launcher as we know it was released on 09 February 2012, although screenshots of the Launcher were posted on 12 December 2011.

I'm not telling you what versions of minecraft each of these worked with because fuck you. Hope this helps!

This really made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Thank you!
