Launcher/pack Version: Launcher version 1.0.1.2, Tekkit version 1.1 Rec. build.

Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

Version of Java: Java JRE7 U4

Description of Problem: Basically, every time I play Tekkit, I have terrible lag, whether it be SSP or SMP, I only get 1-15 FPS on the default texture pack, but when I play regular minecraft, I have 60+ FPS on a 256x256 texture pack, so I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do about this terrible lag! Also I should mention that these problems have only occurred after restoring my system to remove all the junk I had. All of my drivers are up to date, so I'm really puzzled to why this is happening.

Error Messages: N/A

But like I said in the OP, all of my drivers are up to date and this terrible frame drop only happened after i restored my system, before that, I ran at a nice 30-50 FPS

What about any changes you made in optifine? Idunno, the fact that it crapped out after a restore leads me to believe it rolled back some settings you had changed. Or did tekkit always run great for you from day 1 until this problem started?

Yup. Tekkit ran absolutely fine until I restored, except for one small problem. OptiFine. I have no idea why, but it actually makes my Minecraft worse in terms of FPS and makes the floor invisible on every block update or two, so I assume it will make tekkit run worse aswell. But then again, it ran fine until I restored it.

Hmm, well you could backup your modpack.jar and grab some different versions of optifine and plop them in there, see if it is any better. There are several different versions that have varied effects on different computers. Like the multicore one runs like shit on my computer for some reason, and the smooth one works better then the basic one. Not sure which version tekkit uses, and I'm really just grasping at straws here heheh, just a thought I had.

No clue sorry. I would try just dropping the new one in before messing with that though, it should overwrite them all, hopefully, maybe.

If I had to guess it's probably the most basic one.

OP, by any chance, are you on a laptop?

Yes I am, but my requirements go waay over the recommended for minecraft!

Like I said, I run fine on regular Minecraft with 256x256 HD texture pack and get 30-50FPS, and Tekkit ran fine 'till I restored.

make sure that java is set to always use your full GPU potential in your graphics driver control panel. see if that helps.

How would I do this exactly? I have an nVidia graphics card

should be in the nvidia control panel. I don't have a laptop with an nvidia card, so I don't know the specific steps. the general idea though is that you set up a profile for java.exe and make it run in full power mode or whatever the option is called that forces it to use the actual card and not the integrated graphics chip.

In addition to this, there is also an option when you right click on applications, to open using "Nvidia Card# or Intel Card#" If unable to find it in control panel.

I will never purchase Optimus Technology ever again...

Thank you so much guys :D When freakachu said about making java run with the nVidia processor instead of integrated graphics, I made it do that, then I remembered about right-clicking and selecting from there!

I was with my dad the other day just after I restored my system and he did say that it seems "even sh**ter than before", thanks dad >:(
