Java Error

confused guy

Question

launcher v 1.0.1.3

Windows 7 64 bit

Java v 7 update 4. Java website's test says it's working fine.

Hi, I've been trying to get my server working because I haven't been on it in quite a while. When I try to start the server, I get an error saying:

C:\Users\Desktop\Tekkit Server 1.1>Java -Xmx3G -Xms2G -jar.nogui

Error occured during initialization of UM

Java/lang/NoclassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object

C:\Users\Desktop\Tekkit Server 1.1>pause

Press any key to continue...

That's that. Also, as of late, when I start my launcher, I get the "getting launcher Version" flash at me before it just shuts down. If I could get help for these problems, I would be very grateful.

Redownloading the launcher serves no purpose, as that is a problem with your server files, not the launcher or client. Delete the whole server folder (back up your world first if you want) and redownload the server files off the tekkit page and put them in their own folder, run the launch.bat again and see what happens.

Alright, I backed up the world and deleted the server. Put in the IP and started up the new server and i got the error:

C:\Users\Me\Desktop\Tekkit 2>java -Xmx3G -Xms2G -jar Tekkit.jar.... You know what, It's the same error. Sorry.

Also, I don't quite understand why the server affects the Launcher working. I know the java is correct... I'm stumped.

try running the server with 7 and the launcher with 6

Did I see something on the website about a 1.2.5 minecraft update? Is that where I'm going wrong? Is there a special thing for that, that I have to download?

No. it's a dev build. Don't use it.

OK now I am trying to delete this server and start fresh... again. But now it says the file is open in another program, and there is no program running it... Also, does the launcher support java 7? Or is the problem that I have to downgrade?

Restart your computer if you don't know how to go into task manager and end processes.

The error you are getting with the launcher, according to the common problems sticky, is because you are using the wrong version of java.

Here is what I would recommend: Go to control panel/applications and uninstall every version of java you currently have, now go download java 7 and make sure you get 64 bit since your OS is 64 bit.

Alright I'm absolutely sure that I have Java 7 update 4 for windows 64 bit. I even reinstalled it and did their website test thing to see if it works. Then I restarted the computer. I then deleted everything from the launcher and all it's files. I then redownloaded the launcher exe. Still the same problem.

Did you uninstall java6, or go into the control panel/java and specify which version of java to use, or direct the servers launch.bat to run the java7 java?

I deleted everything from technic pack and only redownloaded the launcher, which isn't running. So I don't have the server launch.bat yet or any of the multiplayer stuff yet. But for some reason, java is not opening in the control panel when I select it. I must be doing something wrong there.
