No redstone 'ore' spawned?

Just created a server and got it all up to speed. I've already mined a stack or 2 of almost every other item in the game except like diamond and tungsten, and still haven't found 1 block of redstone. Anyone ever heard of something getting mixed up with redstone ore and then not being generated?

You are aware it can only spawn down on the gold level right?

Yeah. I've already got gold and sapphires. I've been cave diving.

So I went to my test server and turned creative on. Apparently redstone is very rare on tekkit. Took me a long, long time to find some. In vanilla the stuff is coming out of my ass.

At least I know it's spawning.

No, new ores come from stone not other ores.

Also, it's not that rare depending on where you go. When I go diamond diving at level 10 I find at least a stack of redstone for every iron pick. If you find a little, make a phil stone and turn coal into redstone with it.
