Tripwires in Vanilla?

Can the trip wires be reset or repaired in some way? I saw that you punch it off, but does it fall of or get destroyed when ran over? I assume explosions obliterate it.

As I remember, touching it trips it but doesn't break it. Punching it trips it and breaks it, while using shears breaks it without setting it off.

Well no... ,but he did say A Hunger Games map.

Also I'm pretty sure breaking blocks would be kinda helpful in a survival situation.

Yeah in a Hunger Games map you don't break blocks.
