PringleMan Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I want you to go through that list that you just posted and tell me which of those are Bukkit compatible. Tekkit runs on Bukkit. See Tekkit, Bukkit We do not use vanilla server at all, so if those mods are not bukkit mods for SMP, it aint gonna happen.
danidas Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Also some of the mods have bukkit versions but they are still unstable so the tekkit team will not use them.
jem32301 Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 It seems Mo'Creatures Works not sure about the rest
hellow12327 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 oh god, mo creatures would be laggy as hell on SMP, i kinda hope they don't
jem32301 Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 I dont think it will be laggy i have used it befor in a sever and it runs great
jerrbear616 Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Possibly a better idea would be to have a stickied list of plugins/mods that are tekkit compatible, and just give instructions on how to install them, instead of asking the dev team to put mods in. I for one prefer having the core forge mods (RP2/BC/RC/IC2) yet disable EE. I'd prefer they not jam pack the modpack with a lot of mods. That being said, I would like to put Mo' Creatures, and Xie's farming mod on.

knoeki Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 the problem with that you cant make the server Owner install these mods (and even if the server owner like the mod he cant add it because is not part of tekkit and he will lose a lot of people that dont know how to install mods properly (in small servers is not a big issue but in bigger servers cant do that because the bigger servers usually need some cash to stay up and they can't afford loosing players I run a small server and even I wouldn't install any additional mods. It's just too much of a pain in the arse to deal with having everyone install the mod appropriately, which means I have to guide them through it step by step every time even when I do write up instructions.
jem32301 Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 What i do is install the mods on my tekkit cleint then copy my fails over to my other buddys .technic But this only works in you can get to the people you want to have the mods
quintaar Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I agree would be awesome to have a sticky thread with lists of mods we can add without causing MC to crash. The problem would be obviously testing this and leaving updated info. We could do like a chart of all mods and list of check boxes if they support Forge or bukkit etc. If they are only SSP or SMP... The problem I see - there so many vanilla mods that would work for tekkit too, but devs are more orientated with classic minecraft rather than tekkit/technic. Ultimate resolution would be - since from 1.3 update it is possible to fetch the same texture pack as the server you are connected with - would be awesome to load same system onto servers and instead of list of mods displayed needed - server would supply us with the pack associated with server we are connecting to. Server side would have to do their homework and host both client and server side files.... However easy and nice it would be for us gamers... that would seriously harm the paid links and download count for devs (who do get profit that) - not to mention copyrights mess for hosting the files elsewhere.. But Its ideal solution for LAN servers - by my own experience I simply download file once and share it over USB stick across all clients.

Feel free to start a thread. If it's good enough, it might get a sticky. If it's supported, it might keep the sticky.
quintaar Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 This has to wait till I get PC upgrade... not sure If i would be able to run many fun modes with advanced graphics on my CoreDuo 1.6 But I think this could be something great to do. I assume after 1.3 patch where SSP is server based - things will get much simpler in terms of SSP/SMP mod compabilities
